The dreaded GS brake dust problem
I have had Corvettes for many years C2-3-5-6 &7 but I have never seen as much brake dust as I have on my new 2018 GS. I realize it is a by-product of the amazing brakes on this car, but does it get better with time or should I consider new pads? Cleaning the wheels is not a big issue but the silver barrels look dark grey in 150 miles. I have heard that ceramics lessen the problem but I have also heard that a by-product of ceramics can be squeaking at times. TY for any input.

lots of threads on this already, do a search.
your options are $130 set of PowerStop Z26 pads, or $450 Carbotech, or any other options... those are most popular though.

I installed Power Stop Z26's on our '17 GS 18 months ago...... ZERO squeaking, never. Next to no dusting. No brown rotors as some have mentioned. Can't tell any difference in braking performance either. VERY happy customer.
Paid $120 on Amazon. While I would have liked to support a vendor here, Adam with his Carbotech brakes, I just could NOT justify the difference in costs..... $120 VS $450.

For a high quality low dust pad I would recommend the Carbotech 1521 100% made in the USA. Non-corrosive dust will not harm your wheels or paint. You can order on line at http://ampdautosport.com/brake-pads/corvette/ or call me at 216-780-8825. The part numbers you need are front CT1405 and rear CT1718 these will be listed under the C7 ZO6 section. Use promo code z28 at check out to receive your forum discount. Price for the pads with discount should total $418.00.
Carbotech™ Bobcat 1521™ The Carbotech Bobcat 1521™ is our high performance street compound that is our most successful compound. The Bobcat compound is known for its awesome release and modulation, along with unmatched rotor friendliness. Like our AX™ & XP™ line of compounds, Bobcat 1521™ is a Ceramic based friction material offering minimal rotor damage and non-corrosive dust. Bobcat 1521™ offers outstanding performance, even when cold, low dusting and low noise with an excellent initial bite. This compound’s virtually perfect linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Bobcat 1521™ operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 900°F. Bobcat 1521™ is suitable for ALL street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle, police cruiser. The Bobcat 1521™ compound has been found to last two-three times longer than OE pads you can purchase at a dealership or national retailer. That’s one of the beauties of Carbotech Ceramic brake compounds. Bobcat 1521™ is NOT recommended for any track use. If you want

OEM pads won't suffice at the track, so you're gonna have to switch to a race pad if you go to the track anyway. On the street, just get something that won't dust. If you overheat your GS brakes on the street, stop towing trailers through the mountains with your Corvette.

I switched to powerstops and I'm not seeing any dust between washes and I have zero squeaking. Change the pads out unless you track the car, you'll be glad you did.

I'm in the minority. I got the Powerstops for my GS and although it is a great brake dust solution, I instantly noticed the "lessened braking bite" vs the stock pads. I'll probably put the stock back on or try Carbotech when these wear out.

dust free
could not be happier with the power stop pads we went with, could not drive a half hour without being all dusty
changed em out, not a lick of dust , no sound and unbelievable stopping, even better than OEM, drove from saltlake city to vages, did spring mountain and back to salt lake and all that way no dust , super impressed

I used powerstops on my Z51. I could tell they were not as good as OEM, and I was one of the ones that the pads made my rotors turn brown. I did not like that at all. I plan to do Carbotech on my GS soon.

I installed the Carbotech 1521's a few weeks ago. No issues with squealing and the dust is next to nuttin. Can't really tell if any stopping power was lost. Very happy with them!!

For the amount of money involved, just want to be very sure I'm getting the right product for my 2019 Grand Sport. Thanks for your help.

The Power Stop pads turned my rotors brown because they have too much copper in them. They did not make noise and made no dust. I first put on Z26 pads on and then Power Stop sent me Z17 pads and they were no better. I put on Bosch QuietCast copper-free ceramic pads 30 days ago and no dust, noise and my rotors did no turn brown !!!

I had the Powerstop Z26 pads installed on my '19 GS at delivery. No dust, no squeal, and no brown rotors. Very happy with them. I believe they were $118 delivered from Rock Auto..
