Why I am happy I never lowered my C7

it becomes a better idea the closer you are to 18yo and paying “3-fiddy” a month in insurance on your one car...as you’re prob thinking: why would I want to see the tops of my tires?...why shouldn’t I replace my vette and non-M bimmer badges with Ferrari and M badges respectively? I love the looks and it gets me girls, you’re thinking!
Otherwise it’s asinine on a street car that is already so low to the ground that I need to turn at an oblique angle slowly onto driveways and speed bumps, not to mention how hard it is getting in and out the car.

Well, I can't deny that the lowered Corvette's are uber-sexy. I would as well, if not for our crappy streets. As it is, I still have to do the "slow-***-angle" on uneven streets and still scrape the air deflector. It's an easy mod, but not worth the possible damage.

My 2014 had gaps between the tire and fender that just did not look right to me for a sports car. So I lowered it on stock bolts, maybe 1/2" and it made all the difference in the world. The car is still within manufacturer specs and I feel it has a better stance. Haven't scraped anything yet. But just like any mod, (which I don't truly consider this a mod) to each his own.

I have a stock F-150 4X4 on stock tires and stock 20 inch rims. My not lowered Z06 looks nothing like it. The middle of my front splitter is exactly 6 inches to the floor of the garage and I am always worried about hitting something with it. I have never liked the look of cars that were slammed. I don't like the raised front end of the Bubba 4X4 trucks with the headlights pointed to the sky look, either. What's up with that look? Each to their own, however. Lowering obviously works for many here. As for getting in and out, I never have a problem getting in even with the door partially open. Getting out in my garage when I can't open the door much more than about half way is a definite pain but I don't think raising the car would help.

Lowered mine all the way on stock bolts. I'm just glad that's even an option! We usually have to buy lowering springs to get a good stance. Just can't stand ugly wheel gap!

I't should have been a factory option for an automatic lowering/lifting front end. For $ 90,000. it would have cost less than $ 400. cost
$ 1,100. retail. My M Benz SL550 had it standard @ $ 122,000.
My splitter is taking enough hits with the factory setting, but on the Highway or siting still it would be nice to have it lowered.

Hey everyone! I have absolutely nothing to add, but I did want everyone to know I have a personal preference on an issue!

My driveway made the decision for me. The stock setup clears with only minor rub of the rubber air dam. We tried a lowered C7 (on the stock bolts) and the overhang hit the cement, couldn't even get it in as far as the air dam. So mine will stay at the factory setting.

I like the idea of a lower stance, but I have a hard time seeing the difference with one that is lowered compared to one that isn't. I would lower mine if I was getting at least 2 inches or more. Everything is pretty flat around here including the driveways, so this would be an ideal part of the country for doing that.

I think my Vette sits low enough and I have no desire to lower mine...

I already have enough trouble getting my C7 in and out of my driveway without hearing that dreaded screeching noise. My old C6 would drag every time I entered or backed out of the driveway when we lived in California. I tried every way possible to get that thing out on the street without dragging and nothing worked. So I guess I would never lower a Corvette.
But to each his own.

It's purely a looks thing. A lot of folks think they're going to get better handling from lowering, but in this case the opposite is true. OEM ride height recommendations provide the best handling, because the suspension can fully do it's thing. That is the recommendation of the owner of DSC Sport, a former Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona winner, who's done testing in his personal Z06.
Spring Mt. also runs all their cars at OEM-recommended ride height.
