Default Why I am happy I never lowered my C7

So, I am driving my C7 down the main street of the small southern town I live in, when I come upon an extended area in which they have dug up the asphalt and have left manhole covers elevated at least three inches above the street. I grimace as I carefully drive over each one, praying I don't hit any of them. I can't change lanes because traffic is too thick. I slowly make my way over manhole after manhole, at least a dozen or more in the short stretch of road. I never hit any of them and all I can think of is, "Thank heavens I NEVER lowered this car. Thank you, thank you, thank you..."

I've never thought lowering a street car was a good idea.

I lowered my ‘14 all the way on the stock bolts when I bought it over 4 years ago. It’s my daily driver. I’ve never wished I hadn’t. To each their own.

Seriously, how does any appearance mod make it better?

It appears that if your wheels are on either side of that small recessed area around the manhole, you are still at street height which is where top of cover is (flush). BUT, man I would hate to be driving at any speed & have a tire/wheel drop into that hole around the cover & impact it. Talk about a bent/cracked wheel/alignment problem-WHEW!

I guess I'm just hung up on function.
There's already insufficient suspension travel for the typical public roads where I live.
It does look better though.

Yeah mine is low enough already. If it were a waxer then maybe. Just as long as I could get it on and off the trailer ok.

Some (if not most or all) of this comes down to how yours came from the factory. Mine looked like a 4x4 in comparison to either of my C6s and other C7s, so I had my DD lowered all the way on factory bolts.

The range that the C7 has is enormous. All variations are within factory specs.

FWIW, I have yet to hear why they are coming out of the factory with over an inch difference between one extreme and the other.

Factory ride height specs are below. Measurements are taken from the ground vertically right over the wheel center to the center point of the fender lip. For proper suspension performance it should be within these specs.

You might just ne noticing the difference between a car with a full tank of fuel and one that's nearly empty.

That’s funny, but true. Maybe add air shocks, operated by the key fob as an (older than most) option. Raising the whole car up about a extra foot for easy entry, and exit. Jk

4x4 look? Come on, not even close.
I will never lower mine. Stock height takes a lot of trouble out of play. Keeps me from any issues with speedbumps, most parking curbs and potholes.

I am surprised or maybe just haven't seen it, but I would think someone would invent a seat that raise and swivel like the older monty carlo and thunderbird used to. LOL

I guess this thread could go on forever, I have mine lowered all the way on stock bolts and no issues as of yet. Even with stage 2 splitter and sides
