LOL . . . I was wondering when you were going to try to work your theory in to this thread for why OEMs don't use catch cans.

Let's watch one of my favorite YouTube engineers discussing the catch can. Jason....go...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWz6vCnJ4CA
The young man did a good job of discussing the issues! He is a too young to remember the solution to blowby and oil mist getting out of the crackcase before the EPA said STOP in the 1960's! A road draft tube! Internal combustion engines have always have that issue and no one really wants to have to ingest the stuff and mess up the carefully tuned air/fuel mixture as we are forced to once a PCV system was required. Below is a pic of one I found that was like what I had on my '41 fathead (before I stuffed in an Olds engine that also had one, my 1950 Ford flathead and still had one on my '56 small block V8! Like race engines do today-just dumped it on the ground!

That thing needs some extra head bolts. I don't think there's enough.

Hmm, did not watch the young man's very smart comments before I posted. You'll see at ~3.5 minutes in he addresses the issue of why OEM's don't add one- exactly as I quoted! The brilliance of youth!

Funny, before I stuffed that Olds engine in my '41 coupe I "ported and relieved" the small flathead; "lots of grinding." The flathead was in the car when I bought it about it a year before I got my drivers license! It was so slow I bought that Olds engine (that or a Caddie is what we used "in the day!") I also used a thin copper head gasket to increase compression and bought a 3 carb manifold cheap from a friend (way over carburated!)

Could have purchased high performance aluminum heads for the flathead but too expensive and frankly would not have produced nearly the power as the Olds I bought all in parts for ~$10! Did spend a lot to have it bored for larger '55 Olds pistons and a 3/4 race cam..

The performance aluminum head below is for a newer flathead with even more bolts! Note the size of the combustion chamber that includes the area over the pistons. They are all needed!

"In the day" they were composite including asbestos as I recall.

Since I have added a catch can, x pipe, intake and ported throttle body, each one gave me 3-5 mpg and 10-15hp. Im up over 50 MPG on trips now and around 50 HP. OP, keep on adding stuff to increase that mileage and hp! lol

I've heard that if you add enough gadgets, including two catch cans, a CAI and oiled air filter, the engine will actually make more fuel than it burns and you'll have to empty the extra gas in the tank occasionally so it doesn't overflow.

Alright, we're done here. Too much off topic conversation and pissing matches.
