Tracy Lewis Catch Can Installed today, 4.5 mpg more on way home!
Tracy Lewis installed one of his performance Catch Cans in my Z06 this morning, and had a professional video photographer document the event part by part, using video and still pics.
On the way to his shop I got 26.4 mpg at 70 mph on cruise 96 mile trip one way on the interstate...
On the way back after Catch Can install I got 31.0 mph at 70 mph on the same exact route....last thing Tracy told me was I will probably see a 2-3 mpg increase...well I saw 4.6 so was very happy and impressed that this small change in the engine breathing system would generate such an impact.
Tracy is a true pro and has a dedicated employee assembling a variety of can kits to fit a variety of cars/trucks. He has an extensive automotive shop and is an expert in his knowledge of mechanical automotive engineering. He takes his time is very detailed and methodical in outlining exactly what each part does, and why it is installed and the overall benefit of what the parts do as an assembled/installed kit.
It is probably the most expensive on the market, but it sure looks like to me it is the best...and he had no qualms taking his time and doing my install personally. I can highly recommend any forum members who may be interested in installing a Catch Can, to give him a call, and if you are in south Florida swing by his shop am sure he would be happy to do a personal install for you.. Very few Catch Can Manufacturers or suppliers will do an install at no charge...they just take your internet order, ship it to you and you are done.
Not so with Tracy Lewis...give him a call at least, am sure he would be happy to share his experiences and advise you the benefits in overall engine performance and internal cleanliness over just the stock engine.
Thanks Tracy, am proud to have you kit on board my Z06!

if GM could get 1-4 mpg's better ,by putting a catch can on ,they would add one to every car/truck,
I can change my mpg's if I have a tailwind

It never ceases to amaze me the simple things that all of GM's (as all the other major corporation's) high-level engineering teams cannot figure out.

At a high level, gas milage variables on the motor side are:
- Air
- Fuel
- Spark (powered by timing)

What was Tracy's reasoning for the better mpg claims?
Post a few pics for us please, of the cc of course, and of your beautiful ride.
Thanks

Melting Slicks
Reminds me of a funny story..
My Brother -in-law had a co-worker who bought an econobox. B-I-L got with a few other co-workers and 2-3 times a week they would bring a gas can and put it in the econobox.
The owner could not believe what incredible mileage he was getting, they did this for a month then stopped.
A few weeks later the econobox owner set up an appointment at the dealer as his MPG had dropped by 40%

Wow... I wonder, will I get worse gas mileage going up a hill than going down?
Must the turtle wax I just applied

He's probably the same type of person who hangs those big brass ***** from the hitch on his lifted pickup. A little image management goes a long way. But hey, it's the internet...who cares about image?
