Default Hertz back in the game, check your local airport

Hertz took delivery of 100 yellow Z06's. As low as $199 a day at JFK airport. They are keeping them for 6 months then flooding the auctions with them.

Can you imagine the abuse those cars will receive from people who don't know and don't care about how they're treating them?!

Not sure what kind of abuse you are talking about. As long as Hertz takes care of the required maintenance and let's assume they do what abuse. Certainly the engines will get a workout for which they were built for, so yes they will most likely be driven hard but that is something most Z06 owner's do myself included. Just curious as to what abuse you are thinking of.

Not a bad rental price at JFK. Most likely won't see any at airports around here through.

They sure get snapped up and treated by collectors like Ferrari's based on past experience. Guess collectors like driven-like-a-rental car and the smell of many butts in their precious.

Driving a car you personally own "hard" is far different from how a rental car gets treated. I wouldn't even think about buying one of these.

I wonder if there will be accidents as drivers who have never driven a performance car floor it from a light or around a curve.

Driving it hard and hitting curbs, crashing etc are two different things. It's the latter that would make these junk after being rented. That and smells caused by people inside it. Smoking, eating, and doing God knows what else inside the car. So just don't buy one and rent it. No problem.

Yeah, like me!

I remember the stories from the 60's where people would rent the high HP cars from Hertz m and take'm to the track. Even heard stories that people would swap out the engine!?!?!?!

All I know is I would be using up a quarter mile at a time. And some tape to keep off all the rubber from the burn outs in the wells and quarter panels! Hope they don't check for bold tires on return!

My guess is they will. My co-worker got dinged for tire wear on a Dodge Charger Hemi rental.

Quite a bargain compared to drive around the track places. In fact it is a steal in my opinion. Where else can you have possession of a hundred thousand dollar "rocket ship" for 24 hours for a few hundred bucks.

Pretty sure not all of those 100 cars will make it back.

Those Hertz Mustangs seem to be real popular at the auctions

I am only Gold President Circle with Hertz... I would never rent that. I would not even take it as my upgrade.
I usually downgrade myself to a Malibu.
Just a safer car to rent.
