You mean they don't have a fee for calculating fees?!

They have to try and make $?
Not sure asking for 10% off and no fees will work, you can try though. They arent ripping you off just padding pockets, its up to you to catch it. Dealers dont care if you are buying your dream car just that you buy something and pay as much as possible.

Go to a forum dealer. MacMulkin advertised a sale price and that's what I cut a check for end of story. No funny business.

It sounds like the OP might be asking for more discount than the forum dealers are offering on a 2019, which may be why he's getting the run around with this fee and that fee so that in the end the dealer is able to make a little money for selling a $70K vehicle.

I went to look at a 2016 Z06 at a local dealer. They had it advertised for $70k, but the big thing is, the car is a BUYBACK (lemon) from GM.
We went inside with the salesman to discuss how much I could buy the car for... I thought they would take thousands off due to it being a buyback.
He said $70k is the price - but get this.... you must finance through them AND have a trade-in. Don't care to finance? Kindly add $1k to price.
No trade you say? Add $1.5k to price.
I couldn't get out of there fast enough.
Just bought a 2016 conv. from a dealer that was for sale on the forum from original owner, but didn't sell, so he traded it into the dealer.
The dealer had it advertised for $6k LESS than forum private seller was asking.... never thought I'd see that.
The price was NO HAGGLE, but I thought it was fair. Surprisingly, their doc fee was only $199 - no other added fees or bs.
I will have to wait until it is shipped from Indiana, and that will seem like forever I'm sure.

In order to qualify for NO ad valorem tax EVER on a vehicle, one must pay the TAVT here in Georgia to qualify.
Noticed the usual bullchit administrative charge (in this case, a whopping $699). What bugs me, though, are two other charges. "Car Care" charge of $549 and a Maintenance charge of $299.
And what part of these two items escapes you? Pay the state of Ga, or pay Rick Hendrick. I'd have a bad taste in my mouth either way. At least Ga will put your tax dollars to work for a better Ga. (more troopers on 95) Rick Hendrick will just take your tribute and add another million dollar vette to his collection. He REALLY needs your contribution to buy C8 vin 0000001.

The Forum has spoken, Kerbeck or McMulkin if you want the car you want at the best price, and not some Hendrick leftover. Tried to buy at Hendrick last year, trolled a come-on price that they would never honor, and this was on '16's in Summer of '17!

GAWD, do I hate going to argue with salespeople.

Anyone have any knowledge of just what the heck these two charges are???

Thanks !
It's all BS! Look at the Kerbeck website and order exactly what you want built for you at Bowling Green for about the same prices you see. No BS, no hassle! Then find a dealer close by that will accept Courtesy Delivery. I did for $250 from a dealer 30 miles away. Had my car in 6 weeks. 2nd Vette I bought from Kerbeck-great folks-no haggling!

There are no "ins and outs" buying out of state. It couldn't be simpler. Pay the sales tax in Georgia. End of story. If you refuse to buy out of state you are doing yourself a disservice. Also, demanding a discount percentage usually only found at the national discount dealers is probably not going to work for you either.

To me, regardless of the car you're buying (and it tends to be worse in terms of BS charges at the low end of the market) negotiate the best out the door price you can inclusive of TTL and all fees and dealer adds--if you're not happy with the bottom line, move on. Don't waste time "asking what this or that fee" is for.

^^^
I bought in Ohio and live in California. Actually paid less tax because part of the tax was Ohio and the Ca tax was prorated. Got a break on the tax and a great price and the car I wanted out of State. Go on cars.com and car gurus and see what they have.

Not MacMulkin. I just bought a 2019 Grand Sport from them. Whatever their website says in Green text, "Price with incentives" is the price you pay. You pay your taxes and registration in your own state 20 days later because they give you a 20 day temporary plate. Pretty nice to not have to pay that right away. There is a $1095 destination charge on the sticker that ends up adding to the final MSRP but I believe that's from GM not the dealer.

Hendricks is as bad as they come for added crap like that. I was considering buying a new car from Town & Country Ford in Charlotte, and they had all of that stuff too, but their Doc fees are a little cheaper. I told him I would pay the Doc fee, but I didn't want the other crap and wasn't going to buy the car if I had to pay for them. He said he would drop the Dealer add on charges if I bought. You could try that with Hendricks if they have the car you want. They may just drop them, but I don't think they'll budge on the Doc fees. Good luck.

Dealer add this stuff, because most people payment shop when buying a car. They never look at those fees, and many never even know they are paying for them.

While I had to fly out to Philadelphia and head to Atlantic City, my Kerbeck purchase was the easiest I have done in my lifetime. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Before purchasing it, I went to 4-5 local dealers and played the game. Most of them didn't have what I wanted and were selling Vettes a model year older for more than I got at a forum dealer on a brand new model.

At the end of the day, after traveling and shipping the car, I still came out way ahead.

I bought my new C6 from Hendrick here. At the time it was a left over 1LT car and it still had a 1k market adjustment and about 1k or so in bullshit add ons. Nitrogen, deluxe wax etc and a 699 doc fee. I walked in with the Kerbeck quote and said match it and I buy today. It took 2 hours of bs but I drove away at the Kerbeck price.

I just visited the same same dealer today. Same deal leftover 1LT car. Same bullshit add ons and same doc fee. Only now their posted price has a 1k “ rebate “ for a trade in. Pay cash they add 1k back in. I’m not on the mood to haggle again. When I buy it will be a forum dealer this time.

That said the local Henderick dealer has an outstanding service department. I wish I could buy local.

Find another dealership! They are terrible.
After the sale they are even worse.
God forbid should you ever need a body shop - Stay away from them!

We bought a Camaro from them. Huge mistake.

The ridiculous add-ons are as bad as ADMs.

Another vote for MacMulkin. No games or hidden costs. Purchase and shipping via Intercity was seamless.

Thanks for your input.

You pay the TAVT tax on the car here in Georgia no matter what state you purchase the car in. Have purchased several out of state.
