Appreciate the answers to my questions and agree that in many cases every bit of fuel economy does count. Seems like this would be something the major manufacturers would be looking at in order to improve their overall fuel economy numbers. Has that not been the case? I know they often times spend millions on technologies that improve fuel economy.

Imagine getting Joe executive who probably doesn't even open the hood checking his catch can. Would not happen and gm would have a service nightmare. Catch cans fill at different levels depending on how they drive. I'm sure they are happy with mileage as it is with CAFE, but perhaps when they get even more strict this expensive and "comex" fix may make sense.
