Default Is this NORMAL????

My hood is a different shade of black then the rest of the car...I've been told its normal ( by someone I'm not going to say) but really find this hard to believe. I Pm'ed another forum member with the same hood as I and was told, NO absolutely not....

Either the dealer repainted it or it was found with a defect at the plant and the plant swapped it out with a hood of a different paint lot. No it shouldn’t look like that.

Just tell everyone it is a special option. Unless it starts peeling off, no worries. Can't help but wonder, if everyone had said that is normal, what would you have done?

Not normal but as mentioned if the paint is good I would leave well enough alone as they say.

Default nope

my son mods and races Japanese hardware and it resembles those
aftermarket carbon fiber hoods (minus the crappy fit) without the CF weave; definitely not a factory
level of paint matching. As others have stated it's reasonable to consider the idea
that the hood was painted (separately obviously) due to repairs.

I just can't do that.. it drives my nuts looking at a 102,000.00 car with non matching paint...

Thats the million dollar question.. I called GM today... Im supposed to have a call back within 48 hours.. I already have a case number.. GM Rep said there was nothing in the vehicle tracking that indicated damage during shipment... so I have no clue as to why my hood is different...

I would still wanted it painted to match the rest of the car, weather it’s normal or not.. I’d want it to match.

ive already had 2 of my friends see the car.. and the hood not matching was the first thing they noticed..

Various body panels are painted at different times. It's definitely not normal, and if I had to guess, it looks like a mixing mistake from the normal black formula. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to get this remedied.

Don't worry about a clueless dealer telling you it's normal. Get GM involved.

Sure looks more glossy from pic. All parts of the car are painted on fixtures by robots. Guess could have been a gun pressure issue so some other error. Bet a good painter could match the rest of the car but that hood decal would have to be masked or something.

My big question is, I’ve been to the BG plant and have seen my other corvette from 2015 being built... during the assemble line I noticed, towards the end on the line.. a tunnel filled with florscent lights... a painting inspection area of the assemble line. I find it so hard to believe the assembly line workers wouldn’t of caught this during paint inspection... this is to obvious..

My gut tells me this has been repainted, by whom, I have no clue and why...

I can't help but question: Was it this way when you bought it? If so, didn't you notice it then?
