Wow, the traffic in Wyoming is horrible!

So he wrote you for 8 over on a wide open highway in your Vette. As a former LEO I would even call that a chicken S*#t ticket.

BTW everyone, we were in the Badlands last year and saw some highways posted at 80 mph.
brother. I called them "cheap tickets, and would have a "come to Jesus" meeting with my Rookies for bringing them to me. Just to much a waste of time on crap like that.

And congrats you were correct, at that point we were on 85, Left Deadwood on 385 and didn't give it much thought

On a sadder note, Michigan...southeastern Michigan is the polar opposite. Literally every freeway is either closed entirely, has condensed lanes, or is under construction. I swear, they need to change our state flag to a picture of an orange construction traffic cone. I'll be driving this Labor Day weekend, but probably just around the Jefferson coast line, where the roads are peaceful and serene

"Orange Barrel Season" is a thing in Michigan. A lot of freeze/thaw cycles plus deferred maintenance set this up over decades in SE Michigan. On I-69 through Flint they currently are reconstructing the entire road right down to the roadbed. I'm told that the original concrete had still been there since the 1940s, with a lot of joint repair. (They would saw out the old joints and put in a few feet of new concrete, which meant that you had twice as many concrete joints.) The new stuff seems great, though still not done when I drove through a week or so ago.

be careful running through WY... even at 65, the winds there ripped the bed cover fabric right off my truck 2 of the 3 times it's ever happened.... hence my current aluminum one. i have enjoyed a couple straight stretches out there in the car when i was stationed in Rapid City, though. real easy to spot critters & cops.
Cyber Gray here, too, and it's a cool effect sometimes.

Cops hell!!! years ago, had to lay on the binders to a grinding stop because of cattle on the road to Big Horn mountain east of Cody Wy. As I slowly drove past a calf, it stared at me from the middle of the road. I could hear it say "Who the Hell are you on MY road? It's like worrying about armadillo's on I-37 (I think) San Antonio to Corpus Christi Tx at 125...Yikes.....Save the wave..

I drive through the western plains a fair bit and WY has been the worst for nuisance tickets. (5-10 over) TX, MT, CO, NM, AZ, not nearly as bad in my experience. Seems weird since the tickets have been in isolated areas with no traffic....which means MOST of WY.

As a retired LEO (many years ago) from a northern Detroit suburb, we used a standard of 11MPH over to warrant a traffic stop. In my many travels through the USA, if I was under 10mph over, I never encountered a traffic stop. Our thought process was that there was many fish in the pond, why catch a small one?

With a view like that in the OP, it would be very difficult to keep the pedal off the floor.
