Default Tire size and part#

hello all,
I got the below info from our Michelin contact. They are run flats, (zp= zero pressure) and are in production, but suffice to say, there are plenty of folks waiting for them!
I drove on them on track and was impressed by their handling, and ride! I know a lot of you either have had bad experiences or didn’t like the ride of the zp tire...but I honestly could not tell the difference in these between non zp and the zp zo6/gs sizes.

MSPN: 47381 - 285/30ZR19 94Y PS A/S 3+ ZP

MSPN: 36994 - 335/25ZR20 (99Y) PS A/S 3+ ZP

Did your contact happen to mention NRFs?

Any thoughts on using these vs MPSS as wet track tires? Seems like the MPSS never get any heat in them on track in the rain. Doesn't help that most wet track days I'm at tend to be cool days.

Thanks for your post from a credible source. I have both PSS and AS3+ sets for my Z51, and have been running each set 6 months/year for 2 years. I've been preaching around here that AS3+ performs incredibly well in hot temps, and they are amazing in cool/cold temps. I really can't tell much, if any difference either, unless you're going 10/10ths on a race track.

nothing at this time planned...but you never know!
Michelin is always listening...to get to the A/S zp in these sizes, took a bit..but it happened largely due to customer feedback!
Cheers,

That is something we've not tested...but it's an interesting thought!
I'll see if we can give that a shot one of these days. We may try and compare lap times vs the super sports..
out here, our monsoon season is just about over, but when it rains still typically in the 90's
yesterday we had a little splash, but it was gone within an hour!
I will say that the grand sport we tested the tires on felt great the first couple of laps, but once pushed, the tires did start getting a little pushy mid corner, and then a little loose on exit. It's similar to the all season in the z51 size.

That's a good point about the possibility of the AS3+ giving up grip after a few laps when pushed. That's something I've not had the opportunity to evaluate in street use. As I said above, I don't perceive any performance differences on the street.

It would be great to see the results of some testing if you guys get a chance to do that.

I just mounted AS3+ ZP's in Z51 sizes, and agree on no difference in warm (93) weather. I am impressed with the handling performance. I also had the old AS3 ZP on a C6, and the handling difference was very noticeable.

Thanks. Was the fall off just in the dry or did you see it in the wet too? I've pretty well convinced myself to buy these for my ZR1, we have a Winter series around here called the "refrigerator bowl" that uses part of a road course as an auto-x course. I'm trying to figure out the best tire for Winter auto-x temps too. I'll see you all early Spring (waiting for March dates for the ZR1 class to open up).

Here in AZ with my AS3+ ZP's on my Stingray at 100 plus temps I do very well with wide open throttles from a standstill and cornering at 1G. The only thing is that on my first set as they wore down you get less and less performance. Like any tire. So be careful. When I'm down to 4/32 tread and you accelerate on roadways with a little dust on them it is like driving on a wet surface. I got 32,000 miles on my first set and started to notice the performance difference at about 5/32. They seem to be just as good the tires that came with the car performance wise. I only got 12,000 miles on the stock tires.

The part numbers are actually now shown on the Michelin website - which gives me reason to hope they may actually soon exist.

Would be nice to extend my driving season by a couple of months. I find the MPSS is just not worth the risk to drive with how much the traction degrades below about 12 deg C.

I placed my order this evening with Tire Rack on the phone. Ordered a set of Michelin Pilot ZP (run flats) A/S 3+ for our Grand Sport. 285/30ZR19 and 335/25ZR20

Order shows 9/22/18 ship date for the fronts, and 9/12/18 for the rear's .... approximately.

They don't charge my card until they ship

This must be really frustrating for Tire Rack, trying to serve their customers but getting jerked around by Michelin.
Hope it all works out this time.

LOL... they probably keep these tires on the same shelf as the Mobil 1 0W40 ESP, which itself is right next to the hens' teeth.

The same thing happened with the AS3+ ZP in Z51 sizes at intro 2 years ago. They instantly sold out and were as rare as hen's teeth. Within a few months supply caught up to demand.
