Oh, also my pit crew was asking me at what rpm am I starting off at? So 2,000 or 3,000 RPM off the line and then one guy said well that's a big difference which is it is 2000 or 3000 I'm taking off the line. So what RPM should I be starting off at?

Do not dump dump the clutch, if you get a sticky tire on there it could break a axle or spider gears in the diff. launch control can be a bit tricky especially if you are already a bit wound up or nervous,

I assume you have OEM MPSS run flats tires... you can't get enough traction at the hit to really damage stuff. Guys always want to do a big smoky burn out but this is NOT helping you! with street tires

also DO NOT GO THRU THE WATER BOX. Drive around it.... unless you have drag radials

At what altitude is your track? You MPH is down quite a bit iam wondering if you are in Colorado or something?

Just a small suggestion? Put the rev limiter back into the picture if you're going to play some more at the strip. The rev limiter is your friend.

Yea your right... when I was tuning the car it asked me do I want to delete it and I wasn't sure if I should or not, and not sure if that was really going to make a difference? But yeah when you're reving that high you better have your rev limiter on because you don't want to blow the freaking engine...

Here is a simple read. A few good pointers in this article. And yea, an A8 would help, but don't cut yourself short. And I second Elmer's rev limiter quote.

It's a good read. The 5W30 that gives a few extra horse power I'm glad to know. But right at the bigenomg it says order your C7 with the 8 Speed and you will have an 11 second car. Mines a 7 speed manual... it came that way from the dealership.

If I were to factory order another GS or Z06 it would be the 8 Speed. Manuals are nice if you like to shift gears. I personally don't like this 7 speed gear box. Not that easy to shift, and as I mentioned a few times, gears way to close together. To easy to miss a gear.

It takes a lot of practice to get good at launching the car and hitting the gears just right. Keep at it if you want to improve.

And if you are worried about breaking things, you may want to consider doing something else with the car. The Vette is pretty robust, but things can and do break.

Yea it was okay. To be honest doubt I would do it again. I don't care for quarter mile stuff. But yea it was fun I guess.

I wouldn't worry about how you drive it, provided you're covered by factory warranty. These cars were meant to be driven HARD!

Sounds like you need a lot more practice on getting good hole shots. Look into some drag slicks for your car - AND, a lot more practice! 👍

Clutches, transmissions, rear end and differentials are all covered under warranty

what do you tell the dealership when the clutch is blown or your differentials are shot??? It's factory default?? 😉

Tell em; "sumpin' blowed."
Warranties are there for your protection. I would drive it a whole lot harder than you've described. It can take it! 👍Get some slicks on that bad boy!! 👍

I think my biggest problem was I was tromping it way too hard off the line and just spinning almost halfway down the track.

I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. Your GS can take a lot of hard driving, believe me. I have a new ZO6 and I doubt very much it will ever see a dragstrip, but it will see track time on a road course and possibly some 1/2 mile or 1 mile roll racing, but that's just my preference. I did run my previous C6 Grand Sport once at the dragstrip, it was a 6 speed manual and out of 3 runs my best was 12.46 @ 117, so I'm guessing your C7 GS should do about the same with some practice. As far as the shifter goes, the first mod I did to my ZO6 as soon as I got it home was the MGW shifter, it runs about $350-$400 and makes a world of difference shifting, I also had one on my C6 GS and it was fantastic.

Car warranty covers track use. Also I would just tell them something broke, not when where and how.

Corret.

They would not have launch control if you couldn't use it. Only place to use it is the track.

Same with a regular road course track, warranty covers component failure provided you do proper track set up.

We drag raced for a lot of years be prepare to break stuff...that's just how it is. You really need a sticky tire on these cars. I prefer 1/2 mile racing now. Most of the time you roll out which is way less stress on parts.

Reminds me of my first time drag racing . After the first time I quit overthinking the launch and just went with my instincts. I got pretty decent after that considering how seldom I did it.

As far as launch control, I don't think mine has it. Mine is actually the 1LT. Yes you see the stage 2 split bumper and stage 2 back wings. That's all aftermarket 😉😎

They all have Launch Control …. look in the manual on how to set it for a Manual ….

with an Auto its easy , press the traction control button twice , press on the brake like you are doing a panic stop , press the gas pedal to the floor , my tach jumps up then settles at 2200 to 2400 , let off the gas and be prepared to be shot out of a cannon

Guys will say the car is faster without Launch control but I prefer the consistency it provides me , I can run within a 10th of a second back to back to back all night long , great for bracket racing
