C7 to be the last manual Corvette?
So as I'm driving down the road today loving my M7 I though, damn the C8 will not have a manual sooooo when the C7 becomes history (I know the 2 should be sold together for some time) will that leave the world with no corvette manual? Bound to happen sooner or later but to soon.

I guess I am in trouble then..........since I don't know how to drive an automatic transmission. LOL!

Yes. VERY likely a DCT only.

After 2000 miles on my new C7 I'm really liking the M7. Took awhile to get confident with it but now it seems to be working very well. If the C7 had offered an advanced dual clutch automatic I probably would have gone that way. If it was great.

From a selfish perspective, I am sort of glad as I will not be tempted to get rid of my C7 vert. Wonder if there will be a vert in the first yr or so.

This is a GOOD thing.
All the top tier sport cars in the mid 2000s that have completely gone away from full 3 pedal manuals, all the manual versions have SPIKED big time in value. A late 200x model BMW M whatever, manual Ferraris, manual Porsches, especially pre 996, manual Lambos, ALL are fetching values 5-20% HIGHER than their auto or automated manual counterparts.
Meanwhile it hasn't stopped or slowed down sales of sporty or sports cars in general (slow down in sport car sales has more to do with a ton of other factors, not the death of the manual) and those of us with M7 Corvettes will have the LAST of a long, LONG line of fine automobiles of its kind. I'd imagine 15 years from now, M7 C7s will be fetching quite a bit higher value than their automatic counterparts too.
Bring on AUTOMATIC only C8s.

The problem isn't that you can't get a MANUAL trans in the car of your choice. It is if you want one, it will from now on be a used car with a used trans, unless you want to replace the entire trans with a new one. That's possible, but costly. I had thought it wouldn't happen but sadly, it looks like it will---no more new car/new manual trans. At least not in Corvettes.
Maybe in a different age, I liked orignally-made, Stetsons and real buggy whips, too.

When automotive technology shifts so drastically, it's disturbing. There's no manual to go to. So we automatically go to a forum thread to try and understand the changes. That being said, we're all just hearing this, so the timing of this thread is rather clutch.

Automobile magazine stated no manual for the immediate future with the C8 which is a real bummer for those of us who would not own a sports car without a stick. I just got my 19 Z06 M7 and glad I did.

I suppose there are still some of us who are waxing sentimental about the high-beam dimmer switch that used to be on the floor. Oh, and the windshield wiper switch on the dashboard. Remember that?

I won't really know how much or if I'll miss the stick until I own an auto C8 for a while, and then it's too late. Oh well. Tech marches on. Somehow I don't think anybody's going to sell their mid-engine C8 for this reason, that would be the automotive equivalent of throwing Jennifer Anniston out of bed for eating crackers.

First year maybe no manual to streamline production but after the first year there will be manuals offered.
twenty three percent of all corvettes purchased are manuals.
no sane manufacturer or corporate executive would pull the plug on an option that generates that kind of unjt volume.
im not sure the manual will be an option as gm tends to prefer to make the manual the standard transmission and the automatic the option...
we could see the manual as standard with a late term release...and as sales slow down a little ir at least become managable from a production meeting demand standpoint...the manual will come out for the showrooms.
(much the way tesla lists the 35grand 220 mile range battery pack and doesnt actually offer the standard 220 mile battery pack to the public to purchase for a year or so)
thats the play i see at worst coming from gm with regards to a manual transmission corvette if not available at the start of production.

Man, I really hope they keep the manual alive. I have always preferred a manual transmission in sports cars. I deviated one time when I selected the A8 in a 2016 Camaro SS. At first I was like cool this thing shifts pretty quick, blah, blah and then about 2 weeks later I was bored to tears as I felt I lost that level of engagement with the car. I tried using the paddles but it just wasn't the same. I sold it and bought a Miata with a 6 speed manual, which was way more fun to drive.
