I would have voted for option #1 and #3 had it been possible.

Here's my recent report on my Range unit. I wouldn't be without one in my '16.

All very encouraging and looks like a no brainer purchase.

I could live without it. I never had tranny issues before I started using it at 37,000 miles. Now have 76,500 miles on the car. I use it just as a precaution.

I wasn't having transmission issues per se, other than the annoying shifting from 8>4>8 etc and a slight roughness from 1st to 2nd, now smooth as silk like a different trans - amazing!

I have to wonder what issues the (3) who voted "Waste of money, nothing but problems" had, I expect they must have had earlier versions than the current V8.6R1.

Some drivers were getting a CEL warning constantly, or the car would get hung up in 3rd gear. Not many, but enough for them not use it. I had the 3rd gear thing a couple of times and sent the device back to them to flash the firmware with the new version and was good to go. I don't have the latest version on mine, but it works perfect on my 2016.

It sounds to me that the latest version works perfectly, any issues experienced were from the older versions.

If you own an A8 you shouldn't be driving the car without one.

Excellent. Could not be happier. Extra smooth shifts / all rough shifts gone. Wished I had gotten this 30k miles ago!

I've been following the many Range threads and don't recall seeing any issues being reported with the latest version (V8.6R1) causing CELs and/or de-charging batteries. If a Range owner hasn't updated to the latest version they probably shouldn't be complaining since Range
updates their previous versions at no charge. Not saying you are complaining but more the five who voted "Waste of money, nothing but problems" in the poll.

Yes. If they are complaining I'm fairly certain they don't have the updated version. It also may be an issue with the car and not the device.

I do notice some slight shuddering and hesitation in my ‘14 A6 when switching from V4 to V8, especially when I stomp on it; yet I’ve read this device hasn’t helped the A6 cars much. Anybody want to chime in on this? Looking for advice before I make a decision.
