Assuming it will be a world class sports car the ME has the potential to do great but it can also bomb if it does not fill the classics Corvette role.
"There will not be a special edition final ME. We heard that from Tadge at the ZR1 reveal, from Mark Reuss and others since.

Did either of them say that explicitedly? No, but they both said that the ZR1 is the final C7 version.

Additionally, we know from GM’s own Dec. 11, 2017 document to its dealers, that ZR1 production ends next March." see post right above by Elegant.

The '13 GS does not have a 427, the '13 427 convertible was a separate stand-alone model.

I did not say a word about the ZR1. My comments were about C7 in general.

Correct - and both high ups at Corvette have said that the 2019 ZR1 is the last C7 Corvette. As Elegant pointed out the ZR1 will end production in March ergo no more C7 when the ME arrives.

Don't you mean FE instead of ME? I'm confused.

Funny how I remember many "purists" saying the C7 (especially the tail) was the death nell for the Corvette.

Fact is, you can speculate all you want. NO ONE outside of GM knows for sure WHAT is going to happen

So, when the last ZR1 comes off the assembly line in March that is the end of C7 production.

This makes perfect sense. Looking back, each time GM switched to a new series, there was not a Final Edition (FE) to close out the prior series. 62 ended the C1, 67 ended the C2, 82-the C3 and so on. C7 will end w/ a 2019 model year, with the new Mid engine released during that final year of production as a 2020 (I suspect).

I further surmise that the C7 will not take a dump as far as value goes. Looking back, previous series Corvettes had a loyal following. Many preferred their mId year car to the Mako-shark design 68. W/ the Mid-engine C8, (while a beautiful and desirable car (IMO), it won't have the "Grocery-getter" functionality of the C7 w/ the cavernous hatch and the ability to put large items (or lots of small stuff) in for transport. . For all intents .(1982 CE) and 1984 going forward made the Corvette a reasonably practical (DINK) couples car. I doubt the C8 will be able to retain that functionality.

Honestly I think the C8 will do well as long as they don't price out most of their market. The shape of it from the camo photos seems close enough to the C7 that I will be giving it serious consideration. The thing I hear most when talking about the C8 with my friends is that they are worried that the base model will be well over 100K. A small sample set of course but I think that price anxiety is real given the current lack of information out there. To be honest even 100K is still a bargain given what you get for the money. As people elsewhere have said, it is good to have first world problems

There is a growing consensus that a recession is near so that will be part of the equation. Car sales have been down for a while now so pricing will be critical. GM needed a bail out in the last recession and it's expected that the govt won't be able to do that for the next (expected around the 2020 time frame). who knows the future?

Keep in mind that a GM employee has said in the past... "Sometimes we have to lie" ... "It's in our contract that we can not reveal information about future product. If we do we could lose our job."
