Range disabler vs Trifecta
Ok,
Before I order another Range module, I'm just wondering why I shouldn't just spend the extra money and get the Trifecta tune instead?
It can deactivate the afm as well as a host of other features. We put this tune on our 2016 Impala when we had it and it worked great. No problems at all.
I'm just wondering about the Range vs Trifecta here.
Seems to me it's just higher cost/extra options vs lower cost/single feature.
You can put your car back to stock, if need be. So it would be really tough for it to void your warranty as the dealer doesn't even have to know. The tune isn't much more money than the Range module... Couple hundred bucks. Seems worth it for the extra features you get. Anyone else feel this way?

The issue centers around whether it's actually true whether the dealer will "know" you installed a tune and then returned it to factory again.
A very knowledgeable tuner told me the statement about the dealer "not knowing" is a partial truth. He said that your typical technician may not be able to tell, but if you have serious issues and they take an in-depth look at your computer, they will know for sure it's been altered in the past.
Whether you choose to believe that information (or not) is the centerpiece (in my view) on whether tunes make sense or not. That, and whether you have/care about your warranty being intact.

Hmmm... Ok, that makes sense. I definitely care about my warranty being intact. I'll need to do some more research before I decide.

I would not do a tune on any vehicle still under warranty. I’m not much of a gambler.

I think you've got your answer my friend. Aftermarket tune = no warranty.
Buy a Range unit, plug it in, and you will not be disappointed.

The best advise I have is to buy it directly from Range. That way there's no question about the warranty, and free upgrades. There are many people out there selling the unit that are not authorized dealers, and Range will not honor the units. I bought mine from Range, and they have great customer service.

My concern with the Range is that it's just a bandaid. Say two years down the road, when my car is out of warranty, if I start having TC issues, it'll be on my dime and the Range might have covered it up.
So, I think I'm going to do the triple flush now (BEFORE I start having problems) and hope that will also help.
