Just my $0.02, I like chrome and the contrast with the Admiral Blue:

I feel the same way. To me, black wheels when seen up close, not moving, when light is hitting them and not cast in a shadow with a big red caliper behind them, they look fantastic. That said, most of the time you just cant see them as they create dark voids in the wheel wells. That said, I am not really a fan of the polished chrome either so this time I around I went with the Pearl Nickel finish, which seems like a nice compromise. You can actually see them from a distance and they we no extra charge. If I get tired of them I can always get them powdered coated.

It's funny.... All of you don't like black wheels because they don't "pop" and you want contrast and for them to stand out... but what do you want to pop more? Your wheels or the actual car? Chrome in a 20" wheel can just be too much.
I wish I could find the Corvette reviewer who said he was "confused" by the chrome rims on the Corvette. He said chrome should never go on a sports car. HIS words, not mine so don't flame me!

I think to answer your question - most owners who prefer chrome, feel that a black rim on a black tire (and if the have a darker colored exterior) feel that there is no contrast between them - dark wheel + dark tire = no contrast. When we say "pop" it means it allows us to "see" where the wheel ends and the tires begins - it adds a bright, visible contrast.
Good explanation

Not sure I've ever fully been on team chrome... I always preferred machined or gunmetal. That said, I can't see any other color than gloss black on my torch red!
Just as a side note... I'm 41 yrs old since some seem to think it's age related

I actually prefer polished like on my C6. (If the factory had done a better job they would have looked even better)
Not a fan of the black and the chrome is too much bling for me but the polished are in between-too bad they're not offered as a factory option. When the paint chips get too bad on my painted Z51 wheels I may just have them polished and get the look I really prefer.

I think all-black wheels are too dark. But with the red stripe around the outside edge and red calipers I think it looks great (of course I'm biased because that is what I bought).
Most of all, it's great that we can all buy what we like.
