Mag ride update fail

Mag ride update fail
Had an appointment at a dealership today (Bob Stall) to get my oil changed and get the mag ride update. 2016 Z51. The service writer didn't know what I was talking about, but I assumed he would figure it out. When he told me it was going to cost $149, I knew I was in trouble. I would have figured they'd done the update a lot -- they have 3 C7s on the showroom floor, 6-8 more on the lot, and there were 2 other C7s and a C6 getting serviced while I was there. He later told me that they had only done one update before, the guy who handled it wasn't there, and the customer had paid on the web beforehand and downloaded a ticket to bring in?? Needless to say, the update didn't happen.
So I guess I am going to call around to dealers to see if anyone has any idea about how to do the update. Anyone else had trouble getting this done?

I took in the document number mentioned in this thread and had no issues. Its an upgrade (which is why its tagged as a GM Accessory) not as much an update (field service fix). Night and day difference on our Z, just make sure you don't have far to drive to return from the Dealer because the car will need 8-10hours to finish calibration on a cool MR system. I don't know about prepurchasing and taking in a "ticket"...the Dealer has to call GM and GM releases to the Dealer the files locked to your VIN.

The car can be driven immediately after the upgrade and can "sit" for the 8 or so hours anytime afterwards.
I had mine done and then redone after the recalibration becale available. HUGE improvement in the ride in TOURING where I have mine most of the time.
Step 8 – To get the maximum performance and consistency out of the updated calibration, please
allow the vehicle to sit for 8 to 10 hours after the update and prior to spirited driving.

The MRC damper system has a built-in temperature offset correction as part of the calibration.
Chevrolet Performance recommends allowing the vehicle to sit for 8 to 10 hours after flash of
Calibration and prior to spirited driving. This step does not need to be done at the dealership and
can be done at the customer's convenience. Allowing the vehicle to sit will allow the damper
temperatures to normalize, and the temperature offset in the calibration to accurately reset. The
vehicle is still functional prior to sitting for 8-10 hours. However, the temperature offset correction
will be less accurate, resulting in a less optimized operation until the damper temperatures
normalize.

Well, that upgrade (not update) is $350 for the software and 20 minutes labor. I had it done to my 14. It is downloaded from GM Performance and is not a free "update".

Just for the record, I wasn't expecting it to be free; I knew it cost $350. That's why I abandoned all hope when I was quoted $149.

I am on the fence with this very confusing upgrade, GM are such goobers. How hard can this be? Hoping to do it when maybe all the dust settles. Good luck with your upgrade. Are we sure the Gov. doesn't still own GM, LOL.

You need to be informed and then hold their hand as you explain how it works. You have to hand them the paper with the information, tell them what it says on it, tell them what the customer total charge is and how they charge their labor. It is out of their normal process and they keep ratcheting back to what they know.

Sounds like they only did a re-flash of the factory spec MRSC. I had mine done in early summer & the service sheet said "customer has current MRSC calibration installed"-DOH! I said no, not THAT, the customer paid for UPGRADE from factory settings. They were going to charge me about $150 also but said "no charge" since you got it already-Yeah Right. Got it correct after I AGAIN went over the install sheet. Also, when I had it done they called Tech Support as required & Tech Support said the recommended sit time is now recommended to be 24 hrs. I could only ASSUME-yikes- that is because with summer heat perhaps system wasn't cooling down enough for the calibration to "take" since 8-10 hrs. in a hot garage or outdoors wouldn't allow cool down properly. And, the average dealer wanders why we LOVE 'em so!

^ usefulness depends on the roads you drive on. Around me, the update was a dream come true. I don’t want to assume how often you use track mode, but I do every chance I get. Track mode is a beast as is. Personally, Track with Sport1 is my favorite mode. It performs like a bat out of hell. I get consistently lowest times in this mode. (It could also be psychological, as I perhaps don’t push the car as hard in full race out of fear, but time and again, my best times are in Track, Sport1.

So how do we go about getting the mag ride update? I have a 2015 Z51 C7 with headers, off road x pipe, intake, NW 103mm throttle body, ported manifold and 150shot with progressive controller and window switch. Should be under warranty since none of the suspension has been touched? right?

^ upgrade, not update. You can have unicorns prancing on your hood if you want, no one will turn you away. Nothing to do with warranty. Pay your $350, they’ll kindly upgrade it. (Assuming you find a dealer that knows about the mag upgrade in your area).

I'm scheduled for the upgrade October 2 at Hendrick Chevrolet in Cary. I'll report back here once it's done. So far, pretty good, the service writer went to the manager then informed me the upgrade price was $350. I know they've done at least a couple others and I know they have Corvette Techs so, I'm pretty sure I'll be OK.
