Why Your Corvette Should Be Your Daily Driver

Daily Slideshow: Go out and drive your Corvette like it was meant to be driven, and while you're at it, take the long way home. You owe it to yourself and to your Corvette.

I have daily driven a Corvette before, my C5 was my daily driver for 7 of the 9 years I owned it. The problem with that is that the winter salt takes it's toll on the car, it was responsible for destroying the ECM actually (that was stupidly located in the fender well, and for some reason it wasn't perfectly sealed off from the elements, so salt spray corroded it)

Another reason why it's a poor idea to daily drive these cars is because in many major cities when you get a rainy day, people forget how to drive and chances of being crashed into are greatly increased. Some idiot quickly changed lanes and almost crashed into me the other foggy/rainy morning when I was driving my Honda to work. No thanks, I'll save my Corvette just for nice weather days.

My C4, C5Z06, C6, C7 and soon-to-be Grand Sport were/will be all DDs.

Don't leave home without it!

I have DD'd mine for two years. With the proper tires in the winter it's a blast. Meanwhile my X5 sits there ageing (ha ha...) Maybe it's because it's my first vette but I just want to drive it every chance i get.

Couldn't agree more! I have a '15 Harley Davidson Street Glide and a '15 Colorado Z71 4x4 to go with my '15 Z51. Guess which one has the most miles on it?.....by over 10,000 too.

80K miles on my 2014 and it is my daily driver. Why plod along in some boring ride when you can actually have some enjoyment in the daily commute? Mine's 36 miles each way and you only live once, so make the best of it.

not my daily driver because I live in the snowy NE

As much as I love driving my Z it’s no where near the DD as my Raptor. The truck is much more comfortable and practical.

Same here, I drive my Tacoma daily and Drive my GS when I feel like driving a world class sportscar.
I don't believe your Corvette should necessarily be your daily driver unless the you want it to be.
As I've stated before, not sure why it concerns some so much how little others drive 'their' Corvettes.

Love having mine as a DD (may more then my 00' 540i). Then again I'm in sunny AZ where the weather is barely rainy and never snowy.

My C5 was a DD for 18 years and my GS is now my DD. In fact, they've been ONLY cars.

Tuesday I drove with a group of Corvette owners to the Northern California coast to meet the Museum In Motion group. On the way home a friend and I drove 25 miles out of the way just so we could take wonderful twisty roads home.

I'll daily drive mine, well for the most part, some times the wife and I jump on our Harley's and ride, but I know why some choose not to. To each their own

I don't doubt these cars make for decent daily drivers, but being an M7, commuting every day to work, rain/snow, I'm glad I have a 2011 GMC Terrain as my daily driver. I can keep the C7 clean, looking good, and use it for track days and car shows or mountain drives. Driving it to Wal-mart to buy toilet paper or home depot for fertilizer doesn't sound like fun to me.

Life is too short. Drive your cars. My C4,C5,C6 and two C7s have all been DD's.

We've only had it for a month but our new '17 GS Z07 is a daily driver, I even drop our 1st grader off at school every morning in it. My previous daily drivers were a '10 Camaro SS and a '00 Miata before that, both purchased new and traded in with high mileage. The Grand Sport will be no different, life is too short to drive boring cars.

I dont own it to keep it nice for the next owner- daily driver in Metro NY for me. The repaving the Grand Central Parkway for the last week or so makes me appreciate those GM front mud flap extenders I installed!

Now with all season run flats the only hitch will be snow and low clearance!
