Default C5 to C7

Hope to be moving from my C5 to a C7 in the near future.I would like to know if you have done this and does the car cover and Travel Buddy from the C5 fit the C7or do I have to purchase new ones? Also are you happy with the move to the C7? Thx.

I went from a 04 coupe to a 17 GS coupe. I loved my 04 but I couldn't resist the move to a C7. Hardest part of the whole deal on getting a 17 GS was letting my 04 go. I love the GS body, performance , ride and all options I chose. Now for your questions I love the C7 and glad I made the move for the GS. I had a color match satin stretch cover for 04 and it did fit on 17 GS but snug. I found a color match for a C7 for 125.00 new so I went that route. Will most likely just lay old cover on top of new cover during winter storage to help keep new cover a little cleaner. I didn't use a travel buddy so I can answer that question. Be careful going for test drive the C7 will suck you in and won't let you OUT ! Good luck on your decision. Dave

Dave, that's exactly what happened to me. We had an '07 C6 that we were completely happy with, but on one fateful day I was talked into taking a C7 for a spin. The rest is history.

Glock, test drive a C7, and you'll see what we are talking about. Just take your checkbook with ya.
You won't even be worried about the car cover, or the travel buddy after that.

Jim

Yep,I also went from C5Z to C7 Z51.Both man trans.

Both were (are) great with the C7 a bit more nimble and really like the diff modes.

The C5 was modified & tuned so the perf is about the same.

I went from a 04 Coupe auto to a 14 Vert M7. I drove the 14 and had to buy it immediately...no regrets, awesome car. I got home and tossed out all of my C5 stuff, so not sure if anything fits....good luck!

I went from a 98 coup to a 19 GS. Great leap in power, handling. interior fit and finish and tech. New car is noisier, less storage in back, has less visibility all the way around (IMHO).
NOT sorry I swapped at all.

I can't answer your question but after agreeing on the price I negotiated a free new GM car cover from the dealer when I purchased my 2017 (updated from my 67 )

It was because I'm so fond of my C5 and the nearly 18 years I've had with it that I bought the C7 about a year ago from Kerbeck. In fact, I kept my C5, as well. Enjoy your new Vette and I'm sorry, I don't even know what the item is you're asking about.

went fromt 04 z06 to stingray. Had a satin indoor cover and it fits the stingray perfectly. The satin cover does have a hole cut out for the antenna which you no longer need.

I had an 04 Z06 for three years. Loved it. Sold it in April and picked up a 2019 Grand Sport in June (above pic with 3 miles on it sitting at MacMulkin). I was worried that the C7 Grand Sport wasn't going to be the beast that the Z was but I was in for a very pleasant surprise. The C7 Grand Sport is a serious track monster that works really well for tearing up twisty country roads. It is an amazing car. I don't miss my C5 Z at all and it was a great vette. In hard turns the Grand Sport feels totally planted. The suspension and tires on these things are just amazing. Of course the engine is quite the power house too.

Went from my supercharged 2001 C5 to a new 17 GS about a year ago. In most ways the C7 is the better car, but there are a couple of areas where I preferred the C5. One of those is interior room. I find the C7 to be a bit cramped compared to my old C5. Initially, the ride in my new C7 was very poor compared to C5. In fact, it didn't compare all that well to the ride in my old 72 C3, even in Tour. Got the suspension software upgraded and the ride was greatly improved. Now it's pretty close to the C5. Not crazy about the cylinder deactivation system either. Will buy a Range unit as soon as they are legal in California. Did have to get used to it being a bit slower that the old C5 though.

I have both. I kept my C5 vert and added a C7 Z06/Z07. The model-specific car covers do not work, but you could buy a generic auto cover that could fit over both. But where's the fun in that?

As to the Travel buddy, I bought a new double Travel Buddy for my C7 and it is designed differently than the C5 double Travel Buddy. The c5 version would probably work in the C7, however since I need both, I ordered a second one for the C7.

I went from a c5 to a c6 to a c7.... with every generation came major improvements and each was a better car than the last. You will NOT miss your c5 one bit. Skipping the c6 will make all the improvements even more incredible and impressive.

Can't really speak for OP but we're likely gonna make jump from C5 to C7 over the winter.

The C6 was something that just didn't 'speak' to us during its run and the C5 was doing just fine. At this point, though, the C5 is getting long in the tooth and is beginning to seem a bit archaic. At 60k miles and 14 or so years, the rattles and lack of creature comforts of the C5 with respect to what's avaliable today is quite obvious to me.

The Corvette exists in our garage as a summer time daily driver for my wife with very occasional track use; shes a Corvette nut and enjoys driving it everywhere. We recently took a short, 350 mile trip in it which was the first time I've driven it in over a year. The bumps, rattles and lack of conveniences was surprising to me after being away from it for so long. It's time to upgrade, conveniently at what I'm guessing is possibly near the end of the 'standard' C7's run.

For us, in the end, it's a combination of timing, not enough 'new' substantive changes in C5 compared to C6 and the completely subjective and personal visual preferences that had us skipping the C6.

Had an 01 and went to a 16 stingray and now a 17 GS. Like all of them but the 01 had a lot more room in cabin and cargo area and rode a LOT better and was quieter with no worries of TC failure. 01 didn't handle as well and wasn't as fast as the C7. Good luck with your choice. All are good rides.
