Default Doing x-pipe myself - how to lift rear?

If I have jacking pucks installed, is it enough to put the car on level ground and lift from both sides on the back pucks with these types of jacks?

https://www.harborfreight.com/3-ton-...ump-68048.html

Does this safely lift the car high enough to do an x-pipe removal and install? If not what's the best way?

It will lift the car, but I would not work under a car only supported by jacks.
When I did mine I lifted the car using the jack on one side and put the front and back wheels on wheel ramps. Lifting from one side gives plenty of room to make the swap

OK so one of those jacks on a puck can lift the whole side of the car high enough to put this type of ramp under both wheels of that side?

There are a lifting points on the center front and rear that allows you lift it high enough to place jack stands or ramps on each side. Jerry U frequently posts an excellent diagram on C7 jacking points. I don't have time to do it right now, but if you search "C7 jacking points" you should find it rather quickly.

Get a set of race ramps. You can set your car level for oil changes and x pipe swaps. I’ve done 5 swaps so far that way between my cars.

I used this type jack https://www.harborfreight.com/3-ton-...ump-64241.html and I use race ramps but those ramps should work.

What's the difference between the ramps,on Harbor Freight and race ramps? (I know I could search google and probably find it but asking for the posterity of folks that read this thread)

I would jack the rear up first and then slide your ramps under. I looked at this like a project that I didn't want to do on my back, so I called a friend with a 4 post lift. I bet if you asked in the local section you could find someone that would let you use their lift. So much easier.

Here’s a good thread with a few illustrations and suggestions on what not to do... https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...failure-7.html... as well as Jerry U’s modified diagram below:

Raceramps are designed for low to the ground sports cars. You can drive right up, fist time lol, And they have an option to buy Rear stands designed to be level with the front ramps. They are not cheap, but a must if you don’t have access to a lift and want to do your own work.

I used 2 jackstands and a low profile Harbor Freight jack. Had more than enough room. It’s a solid mod! No regrets.

Best way - a lift!
2nd best - QuickJack
3rd best (and the way I did it) - drive up on Raceramps in front and jack up the rear. Put jack stands under pucks both sides rear. Worked very well if you don't mind working on your back. Everything went well until I tried to slide the X-pipe onto the rear pipes. One side would not go on. After inspecting closely I noticed one was slightly out of round. A quick trip to the auto parts store to borrow a pipe expander cured the problem.

I beleive that I did it the same way on my 17' Stingray. I purchased the four pucks and installed them. I placed my jack under the front drivers side puck and jacked up and then added my jack stand in the front in the appropriate location.
I then moved to the passenger side and repeated. Removal was the reverse.

FWIW, I installed the Corsa cat-back kit using Race Ramps. It was a little tight near the front with just the rear lifted, but still very doable.

I usually jack mine onto Rhino Ramps for oil changes, etc.

I know it's a little pricey, but I love my QuickJack. It gives me a level car with approximately 20" of clearance. Because they are level I can use them for oil, tranny and differential fluid changes. They also work great for any other under car work that doesn't need a huge amount of clearance. I am using them now for detailing the car and wheels. I am able to comfortably buff and seal the lower part of the car. Another bonus is that I use them on all of my cars to switch the winter and summer tires and oil changes. It is a great investment if you don't have room for a true lift. I have the 5000 SLX model (5000 lb. lifting capacity). Another bonus is that jack stands aren't necessary since the lift has mechanical stops at two different heights.

I have a set of race ramps but have never owned a Vette. I ordered a new 19 GS and will take delivery maybe end of November, I would like to change my own oil with this dry sump system. Do you if this car has to be level to drain all the oil or will just using race ramps with the car tilted be able to get all the oil out from the pans?

You will not get all the oil out unless the car is level. I didn't measure how much but a fair amount more ran out after I jacked up the rear to the same level as my 10" Raceramps in front.

Thanks taz for reply. Do you jack up rear and leave on the jacks while draining oil or do you insert jack stands on the chassis cross member?

Drive on ramps, use a crossmember I made out of a scrap piece on 2x6 and some plywood with a low profile floor jack under the rear car crossmember, lift until level. If I am going under the car while waiting for the oil to drain out I put jack stands under my rear leave in pucks.
If I have enough work to do to make it worthwhile I drag out the QuickJack and use it instead
