OP. Good question. For some reason, nobody even attempted to answer it.
Picture quality sucks. For replaying PDR, it is particularly noticeable.
I'd like to upgrade too.

It's OK for me. As long as I can see and object or barrier in regard to the 30 inch hash lines is all I want out of it.

Being in the video business, I've understood for a long time that people are very accepting of very low quality video. I'm not. Today really cheap video cameras have very good picture quality. GM must have searched high and low to find cameras that are as shitty as what they put in the C7 front and rear. I would replace them in a heart beat if it were easy to do. And I think they are very important, especially the rear camera.

It's not a Nikon or a Canon and it won't win any photography contests, but so what? Use them judiciously and you won't run into anything. I find them quite adequate for the job they are assigned to do.

Why all you have to do is touch the camera symbol on the screen.

Coming from a '13 GS convertible, I'm thrilled to have these cameras. To me, lo-res is better than 'no-res'

Adaptive cruise control, lane change assist, autopilot, self parking and some sound proofing would be nice as well.

So ,I have several GM vehicles and have had lots of them over the years, I never thought much about the cameras quality, Until I recently had a base model dodge charger as a rental car for a week or so in Alabama and the rear camera and display was spectacular, not only that but it rained in the afternoon a coulee of days and the camera was still clear, Nothing like the one in Silverado that always gets water on lenses and is un useable in rain or snow .

You never realize how bad a product is until you see how great a different product is.

Is it the same camera for PDR? Seems the PDR image is much sharper than the back-up / front parking images. Took me a minute to figure out what I was seeing in my garage on that front camera.

A dealer has a video explaining it posted on the forum. On a Z, one line is 8" and the other 18" from the point of the front splitter.

I wish there was a "hard" button on the dash vs the button on the radio. If the radio is off there's too many steps to activate the front cameras.

If the radio is off, isnt your infotainment on the home screen? Icon/shortcut should be there.

Hmmm, yep I guess if I don't hold the power button to where it just shows the corvette symbol it is. 🤔

I fully agree. Just there to ensure I hit nothing

I agree the front is a pain, either do it your way, or go to home screen and press camera button. My F-150 is much easier, there is a hard button to press. That said, with the corvette I do like I have for the past 33 years of corvette ownership, I only back in. That includes my garage.

Works, but you have to go to home screen first.

The cameras serve their purpose well in my opinion. Only look at it for a minute, two max.

If they can sell 4K dash cams for $100 retail, I'll bet the cost to GM for a decent camera module is only a dollar or two.

This is one of the things that perpetuates the Corvette's "old fart" image. GM thinks we are all half blind, and still carry around flip phones.

Back in 13-14 when the C7 was new the camera & screen quality was not bad and inline with other current cars at that time. It doesn't take long for stuff like this to become dated. YOU GUYS KNOW THIS...why are some complaining? These car's are known for being a "performance bargain" not tech bargain. ( its a chevy ).
Regardless of all the C8 configuration & design debate... Ill go out on a limb here and say the interior will be a considerable upgrade to the C7 and probably be the least of its potential reasons for people NOT to buy a C8. ( the backup cam should be improved )

I'd say it was short sighted on GM's part to use such an inferior camera system. If that was all that was available they should have designed the system to easily be upgradeable. It's an especially important system (think backing over a child) and one that we look at a lot and depend on. And cars that cost half, blow it away. I think you have to drive a car with a good system to appreciate how inferior our system is.

Horrible. Backing up my driveway in low light is especially horrible. Definitely better stuff out there. Wish there was an upgrade available.
