Default Discount tires lifting no pucks?

Getting new pilot super sports on my 2014 stingray. Discount tires had the best price. They say they don't use pucks to lift since their lift is completely flat and lifts by the whole undercarriage. never had a problem with any vette. Does this sound right? Thanks for your help.

You can always ask them if they damage your car will they pay for the damage? GM did not put the puck slots in the bottom of the car to improve the looks.

They're not corvette specialists. Just bring a set of pucks with you when you bring it in. Show them where they go and that's where their 4 lift point are. You know what I would do? Remove all 4 wheels and just take them there in my SUV. And I hate to complicate things for you but the lifting pucks are just the start. Do they have a touch-less tire machine? Have they done corvette wide, low profile tires before? Will the person that knows how to do it be doing yours? There are a few stories of them tearing beads removing tires. They tore mine when I brought in a rear wheel for a repair. Bought me a brand new 335 PSS ZP no questions asked. I picked it up and had it installed at another specialty tire store.

Have you ever wondered by GM does not sell jacking pucks?

Although those slots can be used to insert AFTERMARKET lift pucks GM did not designed those slots for pucks. The slots are there for lifts that use lift adapter extensions.

My local Discount Tire didn't use pucks for my install. I watched, and they took great care with the car. They actually put it up on 4 floor jacks, using 4 guys jacking at the same time. Pretty neat to watch. I was so impressed I took my '67 Camaro to them for new tires, and again they took their time/care changing the tires.

"Discount" Tire - do you think they have a corvette specialist on hand? Nope, they hire kids off the street for minimum wage. If you go there, assume your car will be damaged in some way. Pay extra and have it done at a GM dealership that has a corvette tech. If not, I'll be looking for your next thread: "The #@$#@$ at discount tire screwed up my undercarriage and broke my wheels!".

We've had good luck with Discount Tires. We pretty much use them exclusively. However, they have scratched my rims before when they mounted tires. Not the Vette, but another car.

They don't use pucks on my Vette, nor my Ferrari - never any damage.

With 5 cars currently and about 7 or 8 years dealing exclusively with Discount Tire... no issues or damage ever. Oh... a lug nut got kicked and fell in a drain. They got one from the dealer without hesitation.

Different DT management. My local DT asked me if it was OK to use their pucks, or did I prefer my own. Two hand-jacks per side, their pucks. Amazing the amount of care they took.

I am thinking about getting dealer to mount my new tires. The manager at dis out tire actually told me the dealer had a better machine and I should go there.

Sadly most of the dealers in my area don't even have the equipment to change Corvette wheels/tires. They contract it out. The shop my dealer uses I wouldn't let change a bicycle tire. And, the Discount Tire in my area does have some kids working there, but they are mainly "gofers" while the adults do the main jobs. Plus they have the state of the art equipment.

Disclaimer: I do understand that a lot of this does depend on the ability of the Manager's in the different stores.
