See link to my install PDF post 11. Mostly pics with text. Don’t have to remove the whole wheel well cover, just the rear clip. There is a pic showing that clip is 3 inches from floor. I release with my fingers but you can use a trim tool. Snaps back with side of your hand.

Many other pics like how to release the Power Board.

The dealer installed my 42 month AC Delco Gold, total out door price was 297. I like the 42 month free replacement.

Have done the same for over 60 and as a mater of principle, would not ask a dealer! Plus been some posts where a dealer tech ripped the unbound carpet getting it out from under the right wheel well cover! It’s not that bad, just a few tricks as I have mentioned. Reminds me of my first Vette, an 1988, that had a simple, not obvious trick to replace the battery.

With the 1988, when you first looked it was intimidating. In fact have talked to two folks who tackled it the very hard way and removed a bolted structural member and had to disconnect and move parts of the power brake master cylinder. One was very mechanically inclined helping his freind and relaying the difficult task!

At the end of his story told him if he had removed one bolt and pulled the small body panel below the clamshell hood sideways- the battery slide out from the side!

In that case having the Service Manual provided the key. However even my 4 volume 2014 C7 Service Manual simple stated, “remove power board.” It had no mention of how! Also not obvious but my PDF (post 11) has a pic of where and how marked!

PS: Since I was one of the first to install in my September 2013 built C7 two years ago, after seeing the tricks, mentioned that to the manager of the store I bought my AGM replacement from when I returned the old battery for the $10 return fee. He said they no longer install batteries in cars where it is difficult to access.

Can understand as to replace the battery in the wife’s Porsche Cayenne required removing the driver’s seat. Lots of difficult plastic seat trim to remove, a special very large Torx bit to remove the seat bolts and many seat wiring plugs. A YouTube video made it look like a several hour task - with risks! My solution was easy as Porsche wanted $900- traded it on a BMW X5 SUV! Wife liked it better so just traded it for another!

Point is for those who think the store where you buy the new battery will do it free, ask first. Also pull out the carpet yourself before you go if they say yes! With enough C7’s out perhaps they have done a few.
