Carfax might pick up on the police report and might list the theft, but I'm not sure because there won't be an insurance claim (unless there is significant damage which seems unlikely).
As for those who think the dealer should have the keys relocated during lunchtime, you'd better stop bringing your car to any dealer in the US during lunch. I don't know any dealer who secures keys while the car is inside the shop. Yes, when the car is in a parking lot, some secure the keys and some don't. My dealer and the independent shop I use secure the keys if they park it in the lot, outside of the building.

A salvage title due to theft recovery is issued when insurance buys the car then wholesales as is. That's not going to happen in this case.

The key thing is stupid, of course a car in service should have the keys in the ignition.

I would ask the dealership to get you two brand new FOBs and have them programmed disabling the current ones to your car as well as a new trunk lock and keys for the FOB. This will ensure that you only have the working keys and transmitters.

Why on earth would he do that? are you suggesting the thief may have may a extra key so after he gets cought he could go and steal the same car again? That’s pretty funny... could make a good Seinfeld episode though ....

A man who works with his hands tends to be pretty good at managing physical risks, but you wont see any techs saving a customer car.
You will see them pushing their toolbox out the nearest overhead door, Lol.
As they should.
Anything else is totally impractical.

Thinking that it might be reasonable to ask for the car to be professionally (by a custom detailer) cleaned, interior especially and thoroughly. After the police have checked it completely for drugs. Have the car thoroughly inspected for any damage, inside and out. Probably about all you can do.

Let me guess .... Loehmann Blasius Chevrolet. When I first started thirsting for a C7 I would drive through their lot from time to time. I wish I took a picture, but one time I went through there was a C7 shoe-less on cinder blocks.

Sounds like your car is just fine. Congrats on not having the hassle of a longer drawn out police chase.
im sure the car is fine. Get the car detailed and if you can get a good price on an extend3d gmepp warranty go for it.
not that its needed...id bet the guy just drove to westchester for lunch.(or rochester)
have the dealership detail the car for free...tip the service manager and t3ch a few bucks and enjoy your corvette again.

In many places theft recovery seems to be a subdivision of salvage. In other words you may have a salvage title, noting theft recovery. Which is not at all the same thing as a totaled car that is repaired.
In your situation, it sounds like your truck wasn't paid off or replaced by the insurance company, then recovered, then resold.
Ultimately it doesn't matter anyway. The only real issue (besides mechanical) with screwed up title cars is that any warranty is voided, and typically they are not financeable.
