I like the idea of the Owl except that it's powered by the OBD, which interferes with a Range device.
My BlackVue is mounted without the use of the Blendmount. Mount. It is attached directly to the plastic moulding directly behind the mirror with 2 Screws that were drilled. The techs removed the moulding, centered the system amd bracket and then It is tied into the cars electrical system when driving and its own battery when parked and shut off.

Think there's still room for a radar detector with the Blendmount [Uniden R3]

I went with the Thinkware F800 Pro for it's enhance parking mode capability. I had to buy an CellLink Neo battery to it doesn't drain my Vette battery. It give mes about 20 hours of motion detected with buffered in parking mode. I was worry about mall parking hit and run. With Front and Rear camera, I have a good chance that I can caught whoever damage my car without leaving a note.

If you want to use the Owl system and mount it like Foosh did be careful in parts of Virginia. Some local LEO's issue tickets for obstructing the forward vision. I know of more than one incidents in the Tidewater section of VA that folks were ticketed for the Garmin nav being mounted on the windshield just above the dash. My son uses a dual camera Bluevue in his GT350 and is very pleased.

Funny thing about the above is, that OwlCam doesn't obstruct forward vision. It's more in the field of view of the long C7 hood. It's also about the size of a business card, much smaller than any portable nav device.

However, I don't doubt that a Podunk PD officer somewhere would likely try something like that.

Yeah, not comparable with a big (or medium) Garmin screen. Kind of a wow on that kind of ticket and LEO.

Thinking of trying the Owl Cam too. I’ll take my time on a decision and continue to research. But I like that there wouldn’t be wires to the lighter on the center console.
And even though it will cost for LTE service, I want to simply see videos and clips on my phone and be able to check in on it at anytime live.

Well, I guess I'm the one-in-a-million.

Can't say I'm happy with install at all. In fact, I walked away from it till I cool down some.

I've been at it for an hour and about 20 minutes on the phone.

NO mention about the little ball snapping into the hole on the plastic rod. I push and push and the least little tug on the cable pulls the ball out. IN FACT, it would be better in the wire canal were all that was there because the wire stays in the canal better than that little black ball stays in its hole.

I gave up on that.

Then, off to the race with the tuck tool. I guess the instructions assumes everyone knows what a tuck tool is and how to use it. If I use the pointy end, it almost pierces the wire. There isn't room enough to put the wire in the slot and push in--the coverings won't allow it when it's tight. So, I used the other end to push in the wire--the round part. That doesn't work so well, either. So, I walked away after spending 5-6 minutes just trying to get the wire around and hidden in the a-pillar. It's too tight. I can't even imagine what fun it will be to try and tuck the wire down in the deep part of the windshield.

Hard to believe anyone can do this in 7 minutes.

Can you post pics? I’m really considering the F800 pro.

I know this is an old thread, sorry for resurrecting. Where would you mount a rear view camera such as the one that comes with the Blackvue kits. I can barely see using the rearview mirror, can't imagine a front mounted camera looking backward would have better view. Convertible by the way.
