No problem as it is machined out around the camera. Was never a problem on my Z51

There are plenty of Areas in the Smokey Mountains of East TN with zero cell service. I have found lots of areas in MT, and WY with no cell coverage also, then in south west TX no coverage. Same with areas of Southern NM and AZ. Out west get away from populations centers and cell service is very spotty. In West TX we rode 35 miles this Fall with no cell service, and did not see a car or truck coming the other way.

As I said, I have a HAM in my car and the antenna looks like this:

So all of the "purists" are satisfied with no CB or antenna showing.

This is a pretty sanitary solution. I like it.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Of course to a ham, antennas are things of beauty!

Both were viewed with admiration but getting either of them mounted on my convertible proved to be too difficult to conceal, so, I went with the license plate frame antenna!

I did not know that unit was still available. I have had that Midland unit for maybe 10 years now. I used it mostly with my F-150. I never tested it as a handheld, although I have the accessory.
And for those who did not realize it, CB radio was available as a factory option in a Corvette in 1978 through 1985 model years.

Easy peasy. Remove rear trim, drill small hole (1/4") in back wall to pass coax, snake down and exit through opening in rear fascia above license plate

If you are lucky enough to have a 2014 coupe, there is supposed to be a pressure relief door at the rear of the trunk and you can feed the antenna wire out through that and then through the existing opening above the license plate like Ken says.

Otherwise, you probably have to drill a hole in the tub like Ken says. I keep finding people who say there's a way to do this without drilling any holes or running the wire over the weatherstrip, but when I ask for details I get silence. If you know how to do it without drilling, please post!

On our 2017 2LT coupe, the appropriate place to drill the hole at the rear of the tub is covered by a big speaker/amplifier. Nobody I know could figure out how to drill the hole without temporarily removing that box, which is a PITA.

Anything we do on a C7 seems to take about twice as long as on a C6.

The hardest part of the job is snaking the cable down to the license plate opening (very difficult to get past all the energy absorbers with gravity alone!)

Several years ago we did a comparison test between CB, family radio, and some kind of industrial grade walkie talkie.
The CBs were those all in one cobra units with a typical license plate mount antenna.
One car was my C6 coupe, the other was a C6 vert with the top up.
I sat in our driveway with the engine running, the other guy slowly drove away as we talked back and forth on the different radios.
In short, the CB gave us twice the range of the good walkie talkie and 3 times the range of the FRS. I think it’s the antenna that makes the difference, a handheld CB with rubber duckie didn’t do any better than the walkie talkie.

Antenna is a BIG part of it but not all. Frequency is a factor and, depending on how old your FRS radios were, they could have been only 500 milliwatts (1/2 watt) or if later ones, 2 watts. Either way and all things being equal, CB should outperform either FRS or commercial handheld radios (utilizing simplex operation)

The antenna is everything with a CB.
