Default If you are on the fence regarding x-pipes...

Just hit 504 miles on the Grand Sport, so I did an oil change and decided it was time to throw that Borla 60547 xpipe I had on it. I've been here 2 other times with other C7's, but it never ceases to amaze me just how big of a difference these things make. WOW.

The video is just a quick start and comparison of idle since I can't simultaneously record and rev the motor at once. I'll get that video tomorrow or something.

Everything else is stock?

For $350, that seems like an easy and worthwhile mod!

How's drone ?

Exactly... Awesome for the money! There is zero drone on these (from every one that I've run). The Stingray I had was running this pipe with the Borla ATAK NPP system I bought from Robert Miller, and that sounded perfect with zero drone either. That ATAK will be next!

Everything else is bone stock still, temporarily haha.

Sounds great! Is there any tuning that needs to be done to keep engine light off after removing the cats?

The X-pipe made quite a difference. Great choice.

Nothing. Those cats are not monitored (behind the second O2 sensors)

I waited until almost 9000 miles to install my corsa x pipe and I wish I had done it on the day I bought the car. I have zero complaints about the way my car sounds now. That initial bark from the tailpipes on a cold start without the second set of cats is just incredible. Ear to ear grin every time I start this car.

Few pics from the install...

Couple of notes:

Torque specs I used...
Tunnel plate small bolts (22) - 20 ft/lbs
Tunnel plate large bolts (2) - 74 ft/lbs
X-pipe hanger bolts - 16 ft/lbs
X-pipe to manifold stud bolts - 18 ft/lbs
Borla clamps - 35ft/lbs

The front most tunnel plate small bolts will seem to tighten forever. There was a bit of glue under the plate on the chassis for mine and so it seemed to tighten but still went through several turns before torque spec was reached. This is not a big deal, you are not stripping it.

Use some dawn on the rubber grommet/hanger to slip it on with ease.

Clean the pipes with alcohol before putting the plate back on you greasy slob (maybe I am deflecting a little)

Brother the last time you did that to me I had the digital calipers and level out. I'm not falling for that again (be back in an hour, have to uhh check something in the garage).

HAHAHA!!!

EDIT: Wait, it DOES look a little low! Screw it, I'm putting the ATAK on anyway.

Why does Borla website have the following warning listed under the x-pipe product?

“LEGAL ONLY FOR RACING VEHICLES THAT MAY NEVER BE USED, OR REGISTERED OR LICENSED FOR USE ON A HIGHWAY”

Your initial comparison sounds like stock x pipe, cold start, flaps closed vs borla x pipe, cold start, flaps OPEN, not flaps closed like the stock x pipe flaps were closed.

Next mod is a camera so you can rev/record at same time! Looks good though

I don't agree. The first one is clearly a cold start with the flaps open and as it warmed up, the flaps closed.

Exactly what I'd expect without MTW

Pretty sure the only flaps that would be closing are the ones in the tailpipe that you can see open in the video. The other valves in front of the mufflers don't close when the car is idling, cold or warm.

hey bud,

flaps were open on that first part too. Only time they were closed was at the end when I was playing with the M2W switch. I do wish I had the actual startup in that first part, but I don’t have the video (would’ve been a good comparison).

Take another look, you'll see them open in that first part.

thanks
