Default Windshield Crack: Warranty fix?

On the way home on the freeway, I heard a loud pop. After looking around, I see a crack on the windshield passenger side just above where the dash meets the windshield. After getting home, I check it from the outside and it feels smooth (no glass missing) which was weird.

is this a warranty fix and does the windshield need to be replaced?

Rock chip, no warranty but your insurance should cover it

The insurance companies here in Arizona don't cover it! Maybe in LA.

Collision coverage would cover it (unless a waiver for windshields perhaps?)

It might be repairable by one of the glass rock chip repair shops. Definitely not covered by warranty.

Actually, that looks like someone with a BB gun took a shot at you. In any case, warranty no, insurance yes.

Mine does. But I pay for glass replacement coverage. When living and driving in the Phoenix Arizona metro area where they line the freeways with crushed gravel....it's a requirement.

That is a Comprehensive claim, not Collision.

Yes, in Phoenix it's extra. My point really is that it's not a guarantee and differs by state so you'll need to check.

Thinking a repair (resin fill) might work for this. Has anyone tried that?

My understanding is that comprehensive covers if the car is not moving (aka parked). Moving and it's collision

I believe if the damage can be covered by a dollar bill, it can be repaired. I've had one repaired on my car. You can still see where the damage was, but in my case it's not in my line of sight.

Actually it's the size of a quarter that can be repaired. Almost all insurance companies will pay for a repair with no deductible so that should be your first plan.

Just call your insurance agent. He'll have the correct answer for your coverage.
