Just doing some simple math:
Pay $70,000 for a NEW Vette - sell it 3 years later for $45,000 with lets say 5,000 miles
$25,000 (paid out) divided by 5000 miles = $5 per mile (*If the grocery store is 10 miles down the road, its costing you $100 just to get there and back home)...

Pay $40,000 for a USED Vette - sell it 3 years later for $30,000 with 5,000 more miles (10,000 miles in total)
$10,000 (paid out) divided by 5000 miles = $2 per mile

Let the flaming begin...
No flaming necessary. These are emotional purchases. Emotional things are expensive. Like wives and kids for example. Do the math on that. The love of my life is a 2019 Grand Sport. Pretty cheap compared to a wife or a child. 😀

Well said by both of you. NOT wanting to sound rude or selfish I personally decided after working reasonably hard for several decades, funded kids colleges and weddings, paid off house and lived within my means if I waste/loose a few bucks on depreciation then so be it. Seems the older I get the more time I’m headed to a funeral or nursing home. The percentage of depreciation I’m suffering as compared to all other money I’ve spent it’s well worth it, to me any way 😉👍

I can't really talk. I'm driving the heck out of my C7 as it's my daily driver and I have a long commute. But I also bought a used 23' motor boat 3 years ago, pay monthly fees to keep it, and only took it out 4x this past year. For some of us our vettes are weekend toys, for others, our mode of transportation. Serves both uses really well!!!

Nothing wrong with that, as long as you are enjoying your C7 it doesn't matter how.

Please no "drive it and enjoy it-its only a car" comments. This is how I enjoy my car. (and yes I take my meds regularly)

Garage queens speak up!
I agree with you bought my 2017 Z06 a year and a half ago. Every ride is special and we should all use it as we like as long as it makes us happy. I currently have 1563 miles on it. I drive it when I want and don't care what others say as I attribute it to them being jealous because their cars have to much mileage on them. LOL! I always park in a good spot and don't drive in bad weather. My car hardly ever leaves my hometown of Plymouth, Massachusetts where I do all my driving in Americas Hometown! To each their own!

Bought my Certified 2014 Z51 coupe on the first business day, January 2016 with 4200 on the clock. I swore I would not repeat the mistake I made with the C5 I bought in 2012 putting only 2000 miles per year on it, I would drive it more often. Yes, I lived up to that promise!!!! I'm putting an average of 2200 miles a year on the C7. That's a 10% increase. The C7 has 10,700 miles on it.

I purchased my 2014 corvette new in June 2014 have only put on 347 miles. The car is just perfect and shares the garage with a cts v sport wagon which is driven but also has low miles. This is just the way I want it to be . Mike Pilarski

I just take my Corvette to car shows but do a lot of work on it also by adding different items like, Carbon fiber, CB Splitter on front, spoiler on back, CB on targa top, CB side skirts and a lot on the dash. That is why I only have 1600 miles on th and it is a C7 2016.

I don't know why it's so hard to understand that some owners (like the poster above) enjoy their C7s without driving the **** out of them. I love Corvettes and have owned, driven and enjoyed them for over 40 years, however I don't want to drive one everyday. It's not like they are the most comfortable car to run errands in. I drive my C7 when I get the urge to drive an outstanding sportscar and I don't care what fulfilling that urge costs me, especially considering I've made money on practically every Corvette I've owned.

347 miles in over 4 years? Your cost per mile driven is astronomical. The next owner will appreciate you not driving it as it depreciates.

Ok I’ll take the other side, just for fun. How can you guys buy a beautiful car like a corvette and drive it into the ground? Where I live if you drive them it’s impossible to keep em nice. I love having a beautiful, pristine vette. If I drove it daily it wouldn’t be as awesome. And, when I’m looking to buy a used vette ( I’ve owned 8) I look for a pristine example, not a high mileage, well worn vehicle.
Honestly i understand both sides. It’s a personal preference. If you have the funds to buy a vette you can afford to drive it, or not. I’m not at all worried about the cost per mile.

I understand too as I’ve had garage queens that a new owner is now enjoying. I have a theory that nobody on their deathbed has ever said “I wish I’d worked more” or “I wish I’d driven my Vette less.” Life is short and I’ve decided I’ll enjoy it while I can. I couldn’t possibly care any less if my C7 is worth less when I sell it because I actually drove it.

To each their own.

I have around 8700 miles on my 2017 Z51. It's sleeping now until there is no more salt on the road.
Our roads are horrible and even with my best efforts, ( AS+3 ZP Michelin tires and GM splashguards ) the lower sides of my car are suffering.
Even having said that, I do not buy my vehicles to let them sit in my garage. To each his or her own!

I just wanted to thank you low mileage guys for my car. Got a 16 z51 2LT MRC m7 with 8 k miles for 42k. MSRP was 71k. And it still has a year of b2b warranty.

I have had her now a little over a month and racked up 3.5k miles in 30 days.

God bless you guys 👍
