Last winter was brutal here with lots of craters, I think I am going to hibernate for a few months, ironically we got our first snow today which is really early.

On our 2017 Z51 we have both the summer PSS and AS3+, both types runflats. Both sets of tires have about 9k miles and even the PSS still look nearly new, so no wear problems.

My subjective impression is that averaging out the various types of road surface, the AS3+ are slightly noisier than the PSS. Ride seems identical. But my opinion is not shared by everyone.
Obviously, the AS3+ is way better if there's any snow on the road, but they match the grip of the PSS on dry pavement at around 50'F (depending on how much you warm up the tires with your driving) and are better when it's cooler.

This is all well and good, but I thought it was against the law to drive a Vette all year long!!!!!

I am about to put the same all weather tires on my 2018 Stingray. Out of curiosity, what did you folks who also made this transition do with your summer only run flat tires?

Kept 'em and got them a set of snazzy rims for spring, summer and fall. "They are better in the rain than the all weather tires when it's warm enough for them. As I understand it, all weather only means they don't fail from low temps, nothing more. They are Jacks of all trades and masters of none. Am I wrong?

Yes that is wrong.. Either by faulty source or faulty recollection or both, the assertions about tires given above are false. My bad in any case.

A few people on here have bought the all season tires as an extra set long before they wore down their OEM tires though, and those people reported the all seasons as being quieter. One of the things I'm most looking forward to when I eventually replace my OEMs with all seasons, is not having the Ackerman effect anymore. I find that super annoying (and it's something I NEVER had happen once in my C5 or my C6 even when they had summer tires on them)

Since I do autocross and an occasional track day, I kept the original PSS and wheels, got a set of used wheels for the AS, switch out each Spring and Fall. For 90% of Corvette drivers, running the AS all year ‘round will work just fine.

When the OEM tires that came on my 2017 Z-51 are cooked, that's what I'll get. What's amazing to me is that with 14K+ miles, those tires appear to have another 7K-10K miles left in them. Didn't see that coming. So this winter the red sled will mostly be in the barn. The problem here in NY is that it's already winter-like weather with 8"+ of snow on the ground and cold temps a week before Thanksgiving.

Just to clarify, the tires you are talking about aren't "all weather tires", they are "all seasons". There is a difference. The term all weather is a new type of tire which is basically a snow tire that you can leave on your car all year round and it can handle the warm weather better than a full snow tire would (it won't heat up as much so it won't wear out too fast). It's about 90-95% as good in the snow as a dedicated snow tire would be. I have used two different brands of all weather tires on my wife's BMW (Nokian WRG3 and now Sailun Atrezzo) over the past 5 years, and currently run the Sailun all weather tires on my Honda as well. I had Kumho KW31 snow tires on my Honda prior to these Sailun all weathers, and the performance in the snow is very close.

I am pretty sure that nobody makes an all weather tire in the sizes necessary for a C7.

I also use All Season tires all year and drive dailly and love it... I do understand people that do not drive them up north when there is snow on the road but when the roads are clear get out and drive

If I were up north I think I would own a set of snow tires for winter and drive every day....

I'm about to replace my PSS summers with the all season variant. Did I read correct...there IS a ZP AS3 for PSS? For some reason I thought ZP didn't exist. Maybe I'm recalling the situation from a few years back.

I got about 14 months out of my 2nd set of summer PSSs. LOL. I drive kinda hard sometimes.

I wanna keep AS tires on the OEM rims and get a set of XO Veronas with summer tires...eventually.

I justput AS3+ on mine. With all the snow we just got I think I'll leave it parked for a while. I know we'll be leaving for Florida in it right after Christmas.

I got my 2016 Z51 last Xmas with 6K miles and stock SS tires. After a couple of months driving on cold roads I knew that the AS3+ tires were for me. I started shopping and found my best deal was with the Chevy dealer in Seaford DE (I G Burton). They gave me the AS3+ZP tires, installed and road force balanced and saved me more than $100 vrs buying the tires on line and using a quality local installer. Drove in at 8 AM and out at 11 AM. No scratches or dings. My initial plan was to change the AS3’s back to the original SS tires every spring and back to AS3’s in the fall but after driving the AS3’s i am going to stay with them all year long— no more tire thumping on sharp turns or pebble pick up pinging inside tire wells. For a driver like myself, who doesn’t track the car but enjoys safely sampling what a Corvette has to offer, i believe the AS3 tire is an overall better choice than the stock tire. If any forum member needs or wants a pristine set of stock Z51 size summer ZP tires with less than 7K miles make me an offer and if it’s even close to fair you’ll own them.
