Add me to the bent rim Grand Sport club (video)

Folks,
Noticed a definite shimmy in the steering wheel today on this car. I've hit nothing of any real significance (normal work commute I've had for 12 years), and so this is very odd. Car has 900 miles on it and is ONE MONTH old! Here is a quick video I shot to show the wobble. Wow.
I set up an appt with the dealership. At 900 miles and no real impact this is ridiculous. If GM claims they have little 'field data', it is up to us to change that by making them aware. I have never bent a rim like this. What are they made of, tin foil?
Check out this WOBBLE!!!

Folks may have seen my post in the Z06 section where I've bent 5 wheels and cracked one. I own up to two wheels being damaged by a bad pothole that couldn't be avoided but the others are a real mystery. While I have a comprehensive wheel/tire insurance policy, it's still annoying to have to bring the car in and lose a few days of enjoyment to get the wheel replaced. First world problem I know. I expected the answer from Chevy/Tadge so I decided to just get aftermarket, forged wheels. I have them on my other cars with similar specifications and no issues in many years of driving. We will see how the new wheels do shortly.

Check if they call it collision damage or comprehensive damage. The first one usually causes your rates to be jacked up next renewal.

Guys you must keep your inflation to 34psi otherwise the rims will bend. I have 7k miles on my car and my wheels are perfect and I live in one of the pot hole capitols of the mid west. The trick is slight over inflation. Let the suspension absorb the impacts not the tires and wheels. 30psi is just to low.

Yeah that's interesting. MacMulkin had my tires set to 34 psi cold when I picked up my vette. Maybe that's why I don't have bent rims. Maybe the slightly higher pressure adds strength to the rim. I'm not an expert at wheel strength but I wish somebody in this forum was.

Yeah, you would think something has to give but what actually gives? My understanding is that the runflat side wall were so stiff that you would think it wouldn’t really matter if the tires had 10psi or 40psi. I thought if you hit a pothole with 10psi or 40psi it would be the same impact to the rim given the sidewall strength of the runflat tire. I would love to know so I can go inflate mine to reduce the risk of bent rims.

Mine came from the factory overinflated to 38# and at my 500 mile oil change they lowered them to 30#. I noticed the shimmy right off, took it back and my 2 front rims were bent. I didn’t hit anything that would have bent them.
