Default Hood liner getting wet

My hood liner shows spots around the air intake and fender seam that it got wet. Has this happened to anyone else. Just nervous about getting any type of airbrush work done if its gonna get screwed up. 2018 GS

Looks stained from getting wet, although to be honest I haven't tried a stiff brush to see if it would do anything. Put the car away at a buddy's house already

Anybody tried putting some thin weatherstripping around the lower hood vent box (for lack of a better term) to create a more watertight seal with the hood opening?

For water/soap (touchless car wash) stains, I've had good luck using a black terrycloth towel that's wet for heavy stains and damp for light ones. Rub briskly but don't go nuts, you could probably damage the material. Needs to be repeated frequently but free and works pretty well.

Mine was getting soaked and discolored, and starting to get soft or mushy, almost like it was rotting. Seems to be a an uncommon issue, but there are several threads on here and the other forum. Water was sleeping in around the hood extractor, between the heat extractor and the hood and had nowhere to go except underneath the hood liner. If I opened the hood after washing the car, soapy water ran out like a shower from under the liner. If you didn’t open the hood, it soaked into the liner.

I eventually got got a new hood liner under warranty and a new “frame” for the heat extractor vent which has some channels and weep holes to let the water drain. The tech also said he used some gasket making tape to close the gap between the hood extractor and the hood. Seems good now.
