C7 end of production date

C7 end of production date
I like many other corvette drivers are sitting on the buyers' fence trying to decide do I buy a 2019 C7 or do I wait for the 2020 ME. Has anyone seen or heard anything definitive as to when C7 production will end? Early on we heard that C7 production would continue even after the introduction of the ME however more recently we have heard that C7 production will end when the ME becomes available. Here's my concern and maybe yours....the ME comes out and the price is much higher than a C7 so buyers including myself rush to get their orders in for a C7 only to find that orders for C7s are no longer being taken......not good. I wish that Chevrolet would be more forthcoming about the future production of the C7......it would help us fence sitters.

I'm in the same boat. My 2016 lease is done in 2 weeks. I want to lease another Stingray or get a GS. I may extend my lease for a couple months to wait and see.

I ordered my C7 this past Aug and I picked it up in Oct. I had a few friends ask me why I didn't wait for the C8. My answer was who knows when the C8 will be released and will I like it? I know one thing for sure and that is I love the C7 and I waited till I retired to buy one.
How can you wait for something you know nothing about? I have always found that the best year to buy a model is the last year of production and the worst year to buy it is the first year of production. I figured I would get the C7 now and if I really like the C8 I would get one after a few years when they have had enough time to get the bugs out.
I know it's fun to buy the latest and greatest but the 2019 C7 is the best C7 to date and you will not be disappointed if you buy one. Can you say that about a C8?

Flash forward to summer 2019, when I recently took delivery of my 2019 Z06/Z07. Just like when the C5 was introduced, I had a "gotta have it" reaction when I saw my first C7. I knew I wanted the higher HP Z06 so I waited, but then had to wait about one year longer than I wanted to, however I finally placed my order in 2019.
Regarding the C8, I'm hoping to have a similar gut reaction, however I don't mind waiting a few years after any new model is released as I like to check out different trims, colors, options, etc. Also, I don't find many mid-engine designs very attractive, even the exotics. If GM knocks it out of the park and it's priced within reason, I will trade into one in a few years. If not, I'm happy knowing that I have the last front engine, rear wheel drive, manual transmission 650 HP Corvette Z06 produced.
That is exactly why GM does not reveal C8 plans. They need to sell all the C7s that they produced that they possibly can so as to not end up with a bunch sitting unsold while buyers wait for the next model if they told us when in the future it was coming out. .

Unless you bought a ZR1, which is new for 2019, from what I can tell there are Zero differences between the 2018's & 2019's besides a couple of exterior color changes - and no one has said Shadow Gray makes the C7 a better car than if it was painted Watkins Glen Gray. Since the introduction of the Z06, A8, PDR and Front Cameras in 2015, and the GS in 2017, there haven't been any significant changes to the C7 whatsoever since its introduction as a 2014 model.

I have no idea why you think the 2019 C7 is better than the 2014-2018's?

A good friend of mine had a 17 with many paint and panel fitment issues. He ended up trading it for an 18 after the paint improvements and is now very happy. There is a reason GM invested a ton of money in the Corvette assembly plant. It was to build a better car and make improvements even though the actual design stayed the same the finished product is better.
They always make manufacturing improvements during a model run and yes the last year of production is usually the best year of production and the first is usually the worst. I will bet everything I own that the 2024 C8 will be a better car than the 2020 C8 if it is indeed being built then.

Trunk Release Delay
They added a delay circuit to the trunk release button. A simple knee hit will not open it!

There is also additional cooling added after a certain year. My 2017 has it where my 2015 did not. As mentioned by others, there are what I consider significant improvements year over year that most people don't notice.

If you wait until the very last minute, you might not be able to order one, but there will be plenty of new C7's left on the lots to be had long after the C8's are available.

And if I were considering a 2019 I would wait until the ME was released for two reasons;
1) if I liked the new ME I would be in a position to buy it without loosing my a-s on a recently purchased 2019 C7.
2) If I did not like the ME when I physically got see one I could then buy a 2019 C7 at a hugh discount.
So waiting is a win-win.

I just bought a 2019 and the way I see it, this is a major design departure for GM to a totally new platform. They have done a great job over the years with new models. but even so I think I would give this one two years anyhow, as it is a totally new ME platform with totally new DOHC cam engine, two things I would prefer to see them weed out bugs on first. I figured I can always move the ME in a few years if it is that cool/hot, but from what I have seen I am not even sold on the look yet. It is a typical mid with the drop down nose, etc. Another thing many of my club members are concerned about is stowage area, as we tour quite a bit and do need some luggage room. Traditionally MEs have almost no room for that, much less a set of golf clubs.
Remember you can always trade up at next lease renewal or purchase time. It took me years to get my first new one anyhow, starting with a C3, then getting a C4 concurrently, then selling the C4 for a C6, then selling both the C6 and C3 for a C7! With Vettes it is hard to lose long term.....some even believe that if the ME doesn't bite at first, many front engine Vette purests may elect to buy great used C7s and C6s thus firming up the prices further.

Since you've already been to the future would you mind giving me the winning Powerball & Mega Millions lottery numbers from next summer? I'd really appreciate it.
My thoughts are fairly similar, as are our cars (2018 M7 Z w/Z07), though my plan for now is to keep my current car & then hopefully park a C8 with a proper DCT next to it in several years. I still think they will offer the C8 with a DCT & not with a traditional auto or manual but we'll know for sure fairly soon.

Sorry, fingers too big for damn smartphone. However the winning Powerball Numbers for 7/20/19 are 20-45-35-6-12-(8).
