I never paid that much attention to the # 60548 X-pipe but you're right it doesn't come with the secondary cats. My mistake.

This is what Borla lists on their website for the two X-pipes.

Part # 60547
This X-pipe eliminates the secondary cats. It will bolt into the factory location and will work with both the OE mufflers and Borla mufflers. It will not work with Long Tube Header.
LEGAL ONLY FOR RACING VEHICLES THAT MAY NEVER BE USED, OR REGISTERED, OR LICENSED FOR USE, UPON A HIGHWAY.

Part # 60548
Works with Borla Axle-Back systems and with factory cats. With adapters 60550 or 60551 it can be used with headers. Can be used with Z06.

So if I am just getting the corsa X pipe now I guess I can add in the full corsa "Extreme" exhaust later on with a bmc air filter for even better sound and no warranty voiding issues???

I would not say no warranty issues , as that is totally up to the dealer ,I would say minimal .... if you had an cat exhaust issue .... dont think it would be covered since the exhaust is modified

I have fuse pulled so valves should be open. I don’t run full throttle though. I run easy unless a chump tries me at the light.

I got the corsa helix x pipe installed today. No check engine lights, etc. Louder yes but not as much as I was hoping for but still better than before . I guess down the road I can install the corsa extreme with a bmc air filter without any tuning for better sound effects and no warranty voiding issues. I worry about the warranty mainly because I don’t exactly trust that A8 tranny in that car.

I installed the Borla 60547 this weekend and am very glad I got one before they ran out of stock. Sound is great and mostly noticeable above 3500 RPMs.

Finished mine today. Different tone. Idle does not have that deep base anymore. I like that because you could hear it all over the house. The tone is different. More deeper. However there is something no one mentions. You can now hear the exhaust in V4 mode. Sounds strange. But nothing obnoxious or music that cant fix it.

You all got me scared to put mine on now! ... I got the Corsa Double Helix "knockoff brand" X Pipe, and had planned to have it put on today. I don't want to go thru the effort if it's not even going to sound as good as it did stock!?? ... Not looking for HP here, ...only better sounds on the cheap!

I don't know what to make of your post??? Sounds like you're talking out of both sides of your mouth! ... At first, you said: *"Idle does not have that deep base anymore."* , ... Then you turned around and said this!: *"The tone is different. More deeper."* ... WTF???

Just put it on , sound is a judgement call on your part and not someone else , you have 50 people telling you is sounds better and one says it's not......I guarentee you will like it

The folks that say there is a difference in sound between pipes ..... heck it's just a pipe , how much difference can their be in sound between a 3 inch stainless pipe ......

Dave

Dude, I'm hoping you're right! My latest concern is having gone with the 3" Corsa type X pipe, whereas you have the 2.75" Borla X pipe, which I know sounds great! I could have gotten the Borla for just $14 more than I paid, and Borla is the exhaust I had and loved on my C6. Man, .. I just worry too much!

lol. I meant while driving it's a deeper tone, not as raspy.

As a side note, I went with the x-pipe that's sold on Amazon for 229 shipped. Perfect fit.

I installed the Borla x pipe (deleted rear cats), it is louder when you get on it but I don't like the raspy BMWish sound it has when pushing the car hard.... i do however believe that an aftermarket exhaust will fix the issue and compliment the x pipe.

In no way does my car sound BMW raspy lol lol
sound is so dependant on the person.....
the only way a person can make a decision is to hear it for them self in person
