Default Local dealer Warranty issue

i have purchased a 17 GSCE new back in July. First title and hit my first warrenty issue. The 3LT leather on the dash is bubbling. After engaging GM customer care, I finally got them to warrenty this brand new car and order the parts. Today theycame in and called to schedule the repair drop off on Monday. Said they would have it a few days but did not know how long it would take to get it right...I was good with that. So I asked for a car...they declined and said that they were in independent Chevy dealer and that did not apply to them. If I wanted their dealer loaner Id have to go on a list of 15 others and wait my turn.

i thought a loaner was covered under warranty if repairs take over night? Anyone else with experience? Already left a message for GM customer care to call me back.

Loaners are at the discretion of the dealer. Pretty sad they don't have one for you.

Personally, I'd be more concerned they get my dash back together without issues than getting a loaner. Might want to start things off on a positive note as opposed to pressing them over something they are not required to provide.

I got a paid for rental when my 15 C7 needed to spend the night at Classic Chevy in Sugarland for a warranty repair.

Classic chevrolet of Lawton and central Texas is a step above other dealerships.. I get a loaner if my car will be longer than 2 hours... It is a very nice perk and exactly why I support them with all my car needs.. OP, sorry your dealer does not do this, is there another dealer close to you that does?? If so, take them your business

Or schedule the repair for when a loaner is available, as that seems to be an option from what you posted.
My dealer offered me a loaner last time (they had the car 2 days), but would not put me on the schedule until they were sure one was available.

I am unclear on loaners being provided under warranty.

1) On the 3/36 no loaner is required, provided or renal costs reimbursement?
2) If on 3/36 dealer may, as customer benefit, provide loaner?
3) If on 3/36 with a GM extended warranty, a loaner or reimbursement (to limits) for rental is provided?
3) If after 3/36 with a GM extended warranty, a loaner or reimbursement (to limits) for rental is provided?

Yes, best to ask upfront and schedule repairs if possible, yet when a car breaks down on the road,
what does one do for transportation?

I understand dealer may not have a rental/ loaner fleet yet local Hertz Enterprises at al would.
So that question become what is the rental reimbursement rate and will Hertz bill GM?

I think it is just good business to provide loaner cars for customers. I had a small spot in the paint on my hood that I brought to my dealer's attention when I took my GS in for the 500 mile oil change. I had an appointment the next day and I got a 2018 Traverse for the day as a loaner. I know some dealers use rental companies and eat the cost to keep the customer happy. Things like that keep the customers coming back.

My serving dealer - here in Texas - ALWAYS gives me a loaner car if they're keeping my car overnight - been doing this for the 20 years I've been a customer - and I have never bought a car from them.

You would think that someone astute enough to afford a new Corvette would at least be capable of reading the warranty....wouldn't you?

For warranty repair GM reimburses the dealer for the loaner. Or rental car agency but dealer has to process everything. Been doing this since 2003.. never had a problem.

May or may not be True. This is directly from the 2018 Corvette owners manual.
Courtesy Rental Vehicle
For an overnight warranty repair, the
dealer may provide an available
courtesy rental vehicle or provide for
reimbursement of a rental vehicle.
Reimbursement is limited and must
be supported by original receipts as
well as a signed and completed
rental agreement and meet state/
provincial, local, and rental vehicle
provider requirements.
Requirements vary and may include
minimum age requirements,
insurance coverage, credit card, etc.
Additional fees such as fuel usage
charges, taxes, levies, usage fees,
excessive mileage, or rental usage
beyond the completion of the repair
are also your responsibility.
It may not be possible to provide a
like vehicle as a courtesy rental.
Additional Program
Information
All program options, such as shuttle
service, may not be available at
every dealer. Contact your dealer
for specific availability.
General Motors reserves the right to
unilaterally modify, change,
or discontinue Courtesy
Transportation at any time and to
resolve all questions of claim
eligibility pursuant to the terms and
conditions described herein at its
sole discretion.
That said, every time my car has required a stay of more than 4 hours, they have provided a Rental. Up until 2016 they had their own loaners, now they use Enterprise. When they had loaners, it was always a cheap car, a cruise or spark. All three times I have been in the Enterprise rental, its been a silverado. My selling dealer tries to take care of customers.

Nothing like Range Rover. Bring it in for warranty, and every time, my wife is sent home in a more expensive model. Its only need warranty work twice, its a 2012. Took it in once for a repair, and they still put her in a loaner, with out asking.

^ Notice the words "may provide" in the above excerpt from the owner's manual meaning the dealer is not required to provide a loaner. I advise you to stop whining about not getting a loaner and concentrate on the real problem at hand which is getting your F'ed-up 3LT dash replaced properly.
Anyway, after the dealer completes your dash replacement and if you come back complaining it looks like hell and/or half your electronics no longer work, then I will agree you legitimately have something to whine about.

I don't see how all the "my dealer gave me a rental or loaner" comments are relative as the fact is that Chevy dealers are not required to supply loaners and the particular dealer the OP has chosen to replace his dash is evidently one that does not.

yes i have been hearing of the bubbling..my neighbors 15 3LT has same issue and he is taking it to an apolstery shop because its out of warranty..interesting to see photos if you have them

Secondly, bern dealing with Ford dealer most of my adult life and of the 4 or 5 times I have had cars in for recalls or warranty work over 4 hours they provided me a loner..sometimes I declined and just took an Uber or dealer shuttle.

I find it best to schedule ahead so they have loaner available for me. My ex-girlfriend owned an Audi and they always gave her a loaner ..that was nice...but that car had do many problems

My Chevy dealer has had my 2014 stingray for over a month doing something other than repairing or replacing a transmission failure. Good thing we had an extra car to use because they don't do loaners (but they have a shuttle van!).
