Default GT seats to CS seats conversion reviews

Hello,
I have been(still am) on the lookout for a pre-owned M7(LT2/LT3) C7 GS, unable to find the right car. My color options are white and red, but the biggest bottle neck is finding a car with the competition seats. I love the looks and the support of the competition seats and i am not willing to compromise on that.

I have started looking at options of converting GT bucket seats to competition seats. I came across a nice DIY and parts from trunkmonkey.
https://www.trunkmonkeyparts.com/cor...-comp-seat-kit

I would like to get some feedback from someone who has done this or had this done at a shop. How are these parts from trunk monkey? Are they durable? My concern is if the aftermarket competition seats are gonna be as durable as factory competition seats.

Also secretly hoping more cars with competition seats come out to the market once the mid engine C8 is revealed in the detroit auto show......lets see. Keeping my fingers crossed

Man if you find a good buy on a good car buy it & do the chg out on the seat back from trunk monkey cheap & a really easy job. Less than 5 hrs on a person that has never done it before. Just take your time up at the top of the seat when you go pulling the cover over the form. Just make sure it lines up correct & you will not get any wrinkles in the leather coming down the sides at all.. 2nd seat will be much faster that is pulling it apart & putting it back together.. Robert

I too just bought a 2017 Z06 with GT seats but I want the Comp seats. I'm looking at doing this conversion. I'd like to hear from more people who has done it. Should I bring to a uphol shop?

I converted my 2015 to the Comp seats. Bought the kit from a CF vendor; forgot who though.

The conversion is not all that difficult, but time consuming.

It is my understanding that the Trunk Monkey kit are all GM parts so the seat back assy will be no different than factory installed. A friend did his and it took about 6 hours to complete.

I converted my seats using the Trunk Monkey instructions. I had never done upholstery work before and the seats came out great. It takes some patience to get seat covers on the frame but it really isn't too hard of a job.

Takes about a day per seat to do the mod. Your hands will be sore, and a second person with strong hands would be a big help. The seats are heavy, and it is easy to scratch the door sill getting them out. Taking the removable top off helps, and the second person will be a big help getting the seats out.

You will probably break the star-lock push huts that hold the cloth isolator to the seat back, as this piece has to be swapped to the new back. These might work for that:

I’ve been considering the swap but I have red seats with black suede inserts and haven’t found those covers. Does anyone know if they make them?

I recall there were several colors listed when I purchased mine. Mine are black, so it was easy for me. Call Niko at Trunk Monkey and ask about colors.

Hey guys,
I was talking to a local corvette dealer who is very familiar with corvettes and their service.
I asked them if they have seen vehicles with the conversion, any issues with it. They said GM does not honor the warranty on the vehicles if the seats have been converted. That is, if your car came with bucket seats and you converted them to competition seats, you would lose the warranty if you happen to run into any issues with the heated seats/ventilated seats.

Anyone have real world experience with this? Any issues with the seats after the conversion? Did the dealer make a big fuss with the warranty due to the conversion?

Default it's funny

for a few months I had a '14 blue C7 with the competition seats; tried them and just couldn't make them work (6'2", long legs and a belly); my lats/back would not fit and
I literally had to drive it with my upper half angled; offered to trade someone their "regular" seats plus a few hundred bucks (on this site and others) and found no takers.
I sold the Vette soon after.....

When i tried the competition seats vs bucket seats back to back, in my opinion they seem to be having the same kinda grip/holding comfort. Of course i only tried it for about 3-4 miles, a short drive. Im 185lbs, 6ft. Medium frame.
The really nice thing about the CS are that they look pretty awesome! like really good compared to bucket seats.

I was plan on going with the competition seats if I would have ordered my 19. But because I got a great deal on my 19 Z06 it did not have the competition seats. I like them more but I will be content with my seats now till a deal comes up with maybe buying a pair for sale or trading someone. I know I’m not doing the conversion.

You might lose warranty on any part of the seat.. there's no such thing as losing warranty altogether.
