Default Tire temp always says warm now

I had my wheels swapped out and a week and a half later the car has not responded to the change in temps. It always says warm. It use to say cold when it was actually cold out and now it is stuck on warm. I am not familiar with the system, so I do not know where to begin on this one. The tire pressure is reading accurate on the DIC, but even when at 39° it still says warm, which should read cold. (I have put on over 100 miles since then btw)

Anyone want to chime in on this one? Any and all thoughts would be appreciated here.

Again, thanks in advance!

It's not an uncommon issue. Here is a thread that may help. I used to live in Portland, Or, and now Lake Havasu, AZ. I have never seen anything but warm on mine. It is actually reading the temp of the computer chip as they say for whatever that is worth, but have a look. I actually don't consider it a problem. Yesterday I drove my 2018 Z06 on a trip of 150 miles. The temperature at the beginning of the trip was in the low 40's. My tire temperature indicated "cold" and stayed that way for about 100 miles. Eventually, it switched to "normal" when the outside temperature got into the mid 50's.

I read that thread and all it did was confirm that there is an issue and it is going to effect the cars nannies. I have nothing to unplug or mess with and the sole change to the car was a set of wheels. Anyone else have an idea?

Mine says warm in 32 degrees, at 80 degrees, and also doing 140mph down the back stretch at COTA on my 8th lap. Until reading this I assumed it was just a gimmick and always said warm.

It will say hot when you're on track pushing it.

Almost 5 years with my C7 and I've never looked at that. Still won't. Why worry about it?

After reading the thread linked to above I didn't think it was anything to wory about, but when I knew the feature was working and now it isn't after having the wheels swapped I am more concerned about it. I do know that my tires go from 29 cold to 32 hot/normal temp, so data is being computed, but am more curious than before as to why the car is stuck in warm.
Side GRRR: I am not looking forwards to having the tires replaced but I will be glad to get these MPSS off the car. They are just too slick, if you will, due to the manufacture date I assume. 8/32" tread, so basically new but the date code is 4 yrs old.

Thanks for the feedback so far everyone! I haven't found a local dealer that doesn't seem overly crooked, after talking with 3 service managers, so I am avoiding them like the crack head begging on the street corner down town. lol

(100th post! woohoo lol)

I have not had this issue. However, I drive my GS in most kinds of weather, and if my tire temperature was not properly registering, I would get it fixed. I have driven in temperatures as low as 21F and I want the information on my tire status to help me adjust my driving.

Is your car kept outside or garaged where it is much warmer? How cold has it actually gotten in Austin? Air temp alone is not a good measure. Your tires are sitting on the ground (cement/asphalt) and that still has a fair amount of retained heat that, in turn. is transferred to your tires and the TPMS (where the temp sensor is).

Here's the temps and resulting display:

I daily drive mine in the Dallas area and I have not seen Cold yet this season.

I've only ever seen "frozen" once in the 100,000 miles I've had my car.

I was in Augusta, GA, and was wanting to make it home between storms. The car was parked outside at a hotel, and it was 23 degrees (4 am) when I started out and it read frozen, It took 20 minutes to get to cold and then another 10 or 15 to get to warm. As I drove east, the temp dropped, but the tires were warmed, so they were just fine. Just as I reached the 95 corridor, the sun came up and the temp dropped even further to 9 deg. I stopped for gas, and took it easy getting back on the freeway, but it really wasn't a big issue.

I thought my tires would crack and fall off the car, but they didn't.

I also drove through some blowing snow in Virginia, but the car didn't blow off the road, or end up in a ditch.

I made it home after a 4000 + mile trip , and It turned out that the tires in cold weather weren't all that big a deal if one is careful.

Haven't really looked at that display yet. Now my curiosity is peaked.

I don't recall exact outside temps but I was seeing it say cold and now I am not, so it has gotten cold enough here. I know it has been cold enough to get ice on the windows though.

4K is one hell of a road trip! I haven't had MPSS before but have not driven anything but extreme performance summer class tires for over a decade and never had any issues, even when driving in the snow. Obviously care is needed when driving in snow with any tire, but the only tires I have seen crack before they should have, due to age, are a set of michelins actually. I am not all the worried about them exploding on me, knocks on wood. lol
