I had a Mercedes 420 years ago that had the 5.0 liter V8 in it and I could not tell the motor was running while idling, when sitting in the drivers seat. Zero vibration. Zero noise.
You get the same thing if you had a Cadillac V8. The cars were designed for different market segments than the Corvette. Mild cam and a V8 will run smoothly with barely a tremor. You get the lope when you change the cam duration to increase power at higher rpms. My Tahoe 5.3 runs smoothly.

^^^^ I had a similar experience 26 yrs ago riding in a colleague's '90 560SEL. Got in the passenger seat and could not tell that the engine was running. Incredible experience, no sound or vibration from the engine! Esp. since I was raised in a household where my parents drove clickety-clack

I'm sure it wasn't "designed to shake", but that's as "smooth" as they could get it.

I think this comment is ridiculous and unhelpful. There are plenty of sports cars out there that don't shake at idle. Even cars that far exceed the hp of the corvette. So if you are not familiar with the Corvette, as several have pointed out, then you would think the car is running hard instead of running normal. And since it has been shown a softer idle is possible, even in older cars, then it appears it was done somewhat on purpose because we like "feeling the power".

I think it's a feature intentionally not engineered out. My c7 does shake a little at idle all the time, but only about half what my c6z did. It reminds me of racehorses that move around nervously in the starting gate, just before exploding.

The more I think about this, the idle shake is done on purpose. Stock LS engines (on which the LT1 is based) idle very smooth. Addition of variable cam timing on LT1 engine would make it possible for engine of 6.2 liters to idle SUPER smooth with 200/207, .551/.524,116.5 cam profile if so desired. The idle shake is intentional.

Think of it as foreplay.

The C6 shook at idle and so does the C7. To think that GM had a perfectly smooth engine and then screwed around with to make it shake at idle is absurd. Some people will believe anything.

Which sports cars far exceed the HP of the Corvette and don't shake?

if you ever get a chance to stand next to a C1 with 270 HP motor will it is running you will see a Corvette "shake".
Stand next to a C2 427/435 hp motor while it is running & you will see a Corvette "shake" Lol

While this isn't a sports car, it has a pretty sophisticated engine at 4.4 Liters and 445 HP with twin turbos and 4 valves per cylinder and is so smooth you can't tell it's running.
