In the market for a 2014, but have concerns
#21
I bought my 2LT Z51 M7 '14 used with ~14k miles on it and have daily driven it for 50k miles with only a leaky radiator (replaced under warranty) and a couple of minor recalls. 20k of those miles were with an A&A supercharger. It runs like a bat outa' hell and is my favorite car of all time.

Thanks for all the responses. Have seen some possibilities on the WEB for sale. One even close to me but way over priced. Not in a big rush yet. I want to get the right car and not have to settle.

Found my Vette
After a long search I finally found the 2014 convertible I was looking for. Lime rock green, Kalahari interior, 3LT, Z51, Mag suspension and much more.
Two Questions:
Q1: am I correct in understanding that the last 5 digits of the VIN is the build number of the Car?
Q2: I’ve seen some C7 Vettes with a small dash plack in front of the shifter on the lower dash with that build info there. Is that plaque or a reproduction available? Mine just has the standard plaque. I looked it up and this is what it’s called: PERSONALIZED INTERIOR PLAQUE (BV4)
It has the black wheels which I’m not really fond of. Thinking of down the road changing to the chrome wheels. Any advice? I don’t want to have to spend an arm and a leg for the 4 wheels.

Find a set of nice used chrome wheels for sale in the C7 Parts for Sale section. Can save a bunch of money that way.
And congrats on finding just the car you were wanting - you will enjoy the heck out of it.

Need to replace tires - need help
I am confused. The car I am going to get will need new tires. $$ Z51, convertible, mag suspension.
Michelin Pilot Super Sport ZPs, size, 245/35ZR19 and 285/30ZR20 are what is called for.
I’m finding that the only place I can find them is on TireRack. $1500 for 4 tires and it seems there is a limited supply of these tires. When I look on the Michelin site I’ve found that the ZP’s aren’t even listed. What gives? What are people using in place of the ZPs. I’m a senior citizen so I’m not going to be tearing up the roads or taking hard turns. I may drive it aggressively but no where near it’s limits. I also would prefer an all weather Michelin.
What have people been replacing the ZP with.
Thanks

I have a 14 m7 with 39k miles. Absolutely no problems. The heated and "cooled" seats aren't great, but not a deal breaker. All the other issues you've listed above, I have never experienced, and I've had the car since 10k miles.
Replaced my tires with the ss 4s, I'm in AZ, so I'm fine with summer tires, they're amazing

CocuVette, thanks for the reply. I live in the Northeast. Although the Vette won’t be driven in the winter I was still considering all weather tires. Seeing you replaced with SS 4S makes me feel better as I was looking at them as an option. The car I’m in the midst of purchasing has a build number of 32,000+ so I’m hoping any issues have been taken care of.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4S and the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ ZP. (Run flat)
‘’Both seem to be, by owner comments, very good replacements for the OEM tires for a lot less money. I’m getting up in years so I’m not going to be tearing up the roads anyway.
I am still waiting for the purchase to be finalized but that won’t be an issue. Looking ahead as the OEM tires have substantial wear on the inside of both front tires and won’t pass state inspection. It looks like the car may have been driven a bit hard. What should I have my Chevy dealer look for as I will probably have them install the tires and look over the car. It has 17,000+ miles on it. As near as I can tell it was built late in 2014 as the last 5 digits of the VIN are is almost 33,000.

You won't be disappointed with the A/S 3+ ZP's. There are threads dedicated to discussing this tire. Plus they come in run flats.

I'm glad you found the car you wanted. Sounds like we have similar tastes - I have owned many Corvettes over the last 45 years or so, and a couple of years ago I was still driving the 2007 C6 convertible that I bought new. They were ten completely trouble-free years, no issues of any kind - just season after season of great driving experiences. As the car reached ten years old in 2017, I decided it was time to upgrade to the C7, and I hoped it would be as trouble-free as my C6 had been. As I started researching ordering a new 2017, I remembered the Premiere Edition convertible that briefly appeared during the C7's introductory year in 2014. The Lime Rock Green metallic paint really caught my eye . . . one of my previous Corvettes years ago - in fact, the first Corvette I ever bought brand new - was a 1972 LT-1 roadster, in Elkhart Green with the Dark Saddle interior. I had always loved that car and that color combination, and the Premiere Edition reminded me very much of it, particularly with the Brownstone interior. The fact that the Premiere Edition came pretty much loaded with every option GM could cram into it didn't hurt, either. So, I decided that I would see if I could find one. Turns out that wasn't as easy as one would think - it seems that the entire production run of 500 blue coupes and 550 green convertibles got snapped up pretty quickly by collectors and speculators, and squirreled away. Every once in a while you would see one for sale, but not that often. I finally located one that wasn't too far away at a specialty Corvette dealer, and it was virtually a new car with the plastic covers still on the seats. This dealer told me that he typically wouldn't be interested in my ten-year-old C6, he usually didn't carry anything that "old" . . . but when he saw the immaculate condition mine was in, and the mileage (17K after 10 years), he made me a great offer to trade for the 2014. So now, Premiere Edition convertible # 219 resides in my garage next to my 1962 300hp/ 4-speed, and I couldn't be happier with both of them. So far the 2014 has been just as trouble-free as my C6 was, and I like having the bullet-proof A6 transmission vs. the A8 I have heard so many bad things about. I did take it in to the dealer for the passenger side air bag light recall, but that's it. What a wonderful car, and it constantly gets comments both on the street and at car shows, mainly about the exceptional color. As I'm sure you found out through your own research, the car could also be had as a non-Premiere Edition and it sounds like that's what you have. I do like the Kalahari interior too, but I agree with you that those black wheels have to go. Look around, you'll find a set of chrome ones - which, in my opinion, set this car off just right. You will enjoy every mile you spend in this car, trust me. Glad you held out to get what you really wanted. While I may give the new mid-engine C8 a look when it comes out, the 1962 and the 2014 are mine to keep. Time to build a bigger garage, I guess. Happy motoring, and stay safe. You have chosen your Corvette wisely.

Fyreline,
Thanks for the post. The car will have to be transported to me as it’s quite a distance away. I actually flew out and looked at it.
Limerock green tint coat, 3LT, Kalahari interior with suede inserts, Z51, red Brembo brakes, mag ride, Kalahari convertible top, black Z51 wheels (down the road will change to chrome) premium Bose sound system and more. Relatively low milage. I couldn’t ask for much more.
My previous corvettes were a 1972 Pewter Silver (rare color) 454 air convertible, 4 speed, both factory hard top and rag top. Wish I still had that one and a 1978 L88 fast back. Wanted one more vette while I could still afford one as I am now retired. Sold a 2002 collectors edition Fire Bird yellow convertible that was sold to make way for the 2014.

I went with Michelin A/S. Get it aligned with the new tires.

anderdea, I'm happy to hear you found your perfect car. As far as the tires, stick with the all season tires you mentioned. Much better for the obvious reason. Corvette tires aren't cheap so maybe you can make a deal with the seller to give you a little break on the price to help you out. It won't hurt to ask, and he/she may just agree. Looking forward to pictures when you get a chance. Congratulations.
Also, keep a check on the forums for sale section. You may be able to find a set of wheels there. If not we have some forum vendors that sell wheels at reasonable prices, Docz 1st Rate Corvette Parts, Bob's house of Wheels, etc. The two I mentioned have great customer service. Just a tip, the closer the wheel dealer is to you the better the price because of the free shipping that really isn't free. As far as I could tell when I bought a set of wheels for my '16, the shipping price is figured into the selling price.
