Just a thought. Since it was a pothole your insurance may ante up with some help. Wouldn't hurt to give them a call if you have't already. Good luck.

And yes, our infrastructure (roads) suck now. Makes one wonder where all of those road taxes go.....oh, wait, no need to wonder. We all know.

I'd pay for a navigation app that would route me by road quality.

What about after market rims? Do you think they may be stronger? Anyone have any experience with this.?

would this affect your insurance rates down the road? For what the new wheels cost, OP wasn't too far off from getting a set of forged aftermarket wheels.

Do any other sports cars have this issue? Lambo, Ferrari, etc. I had a 911, never heard of anyone having rims bent so easily. $80K and having to drive your widebody like its fragile...sad really.

All I know is that if I develop the problem, GM has no idea how tenacious I can be (unless they remember the last time I went up against them, which is well documented on these forums)

I put these from West Coast Corvettes on my car last week. $1,100 delivered. We'll see how they stand up.

Pardon my ignorance but isn’t the Bent Wheel issue strictly a Z06 and Grand Sport issue?

Bent and cracked wheels can occur with any wheel if a wheel is subjected to heavy loads (abused). This problem seems to be occuring with much greater frequency on the C7 vehicles you mentioned. I recently checked the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website database to see just how many complaints have been registered specific to the C7 Corvette. Apparently there have only been a total 8 complaints officially filed regarding cracking and bent wheels on the C7 Corvette. However, there have been dozens of posts by members here on this forum regarding this problem occuring on these vehicles. The folks I guess must not be following up with formal complaints with our Federal Government. Sad, as doing this would go a long way to help push this problem to higher authorities to address this as it does constitute a public safety hazard nevermind it is costing people a lot of cash as well.

HD, I don't know for sure as I'm sure it's different depending on the Ins. Company. My comprehensive has a $100 deductible, and that covers other damage not covered under the liability section, i.e. broken windshields, paint damage from rock or debris, etc. I've not asked specifically about bent wheels from potholes, but logically that should fit into the category. Of course we know when it comes to Insurance sometimes logic doesn't figure into the equation.

Just got back from the dealer and sure enough 2 more bent rims. These guys are talking 3800 for a set of Grand Sport wheels. Does that seem a little pricey? Its like you cant take these cars on the interstate. If you hit a pot hole at 70 miles an hour you get bent rims.

That 3800 sounds a little high. I think I have seen OEM wheels for the current stock GS going for around $650 per. Take a look in the for sale forum here on the CF. Some owners will sell them and put their OEMs up for sale there. You might get a deal too.

I am thinking of getting the Z06 chrome repro wheels. From Docz. I would hope they are stronger and are around $1100.

This will be a collision claim, not comp.
