Default How Soft our Tires Really Are!

I have my 2019 Stingray tucked away in my shop for the winter. My EOS Side Skirts and front splitter arrived the other day so I figured I would put the car on the lift and check things out to see what kind of a job it's going to be. While the car was on the lift I noticed a stone in the tire (not in the tread groove) and I started to pick at it and when it fell out I couldn't believe how far it was embedded into the tire and the cavity it left in the tire! I'm wondering will this cavity fill in and come back together again after being driven on warm roads?

That’s not something to worry about. And it can happen to any tire, not just “soft” performance tires.

If I get enough of them in there I'll have studded snow tires for the winter!

Yes, they’re soft, and no, the cavities will not fill... unless it’s with another stone.

That's one way of looking at it.

Did you ever see or feel how soft a Indy car or NASCAR or top fuel dragster tire are? Almost sponge rubber like. At a drag race there are pit crew members that brush the tires off so no pebbles are stuck on them as the roll up to the tree. NASCAR tires last about 50 laps roughly 75 mi. At least our Vette tires last around 15k mi.

You want soft / performance tires on your C7, if you can cut the tire, superficially, with a fingernail, you are good to go.
There are tires options less sticky, but that is akin to putting 87, or less, in the tank.
Another take, the pebbles are nail or screw blockers.

Yup, but this doesn't happen to my Michelin A/S tires I put on in the Fall.
Worse case with the A/S tires is an occasional stone stuck in between the tread grooves
