I had a slow leak in the right rear Z06. Discount Tire fixed the leak and informed me the wheel was bent. The car was bought new and has only 2000 miles on the odo. I do not recall hitting a pothole or running over anything. I filed a complaint just now.

Give me a few weeks and I have some information that may help some of you that have “product liability” claims.
If we don’t push for it, GM will slide it under the rug. I’m a determined person when it comes to making someone responsible for the right thing...stay tuned, I’m gonna spill my story.

I never had a bent wheel problem with any of my previous 9 Corvettes. And I have hit some pretty good pot holes in that time. So why now? Something is just not right and needs to be addressed.

I think a lot of it has to do with the combination of the rockhard run flats, stiff suspension, and poor quality OEM wheels. That’s why I dumped the tires and got some custom forged wheels. No issues.

Filling a complaint can't hurt, good people doing nothing is how GM and other big Co. skate by on problem issues.

Default So Funny!

I went to the NHTSA website the OP provided to look at some of the formal complaints that had been filed. The latest complaint filed was so funny that I just wanted to share this with you. You got to read this. It says "THEY (the GM Service Advisor) TOLD ME THE THE WHEEL WAS DESIGNED TO CRACK TO PROTECT THE REAR SUSPENSION !!!". Can you believe this? Here, take a look.

Beliefs are fine but I'd rather see some really evidence before making such complaints.

(I know, I know - I'll be crucified for asking for evidence and a few anecdotes will thrown out trying to be disguised as data...)

If you are looking for actual data (whatever form that may be in) you will never find it. GM will never tell you. You will never get it from accident reports. Forum members relating their personal experiences is about as good as you may get. Had you gone to the NHTSA website and culled their database? What exactly do you expect to obtain before you are convinced there is a very real problem with the C7 wide-body OEM wheels?

Had my insurance guy out today. He even said your lucky it didn't turn into a wreck. This insurance thing looks like a process. They need the dealer to call them when they have the car on the hoist so they can see the damage. They don't know what to do with my claim because 2 of my bent rims happened in Tenn and the other 2 in NM all on the same trip..

Have you reported this to the NHTSA website listed by the OP? Sorry this happened to you. It has happened to many others too. Poor quality wheels apparently.
