Sounds like the roads in New Jersey. You may have just saved me some money....

You obviously hit something. There's a scuff mark on the wheel just below the hole and there are scrape marks on the tire. Just sayin.
Tire and wheel policy is you're best friend with these cars.

I bought the tire/wheel plan because it was for 5 years and no deductible, it was a no brainer, 1 wheel takes a hit and it pays for itself (i have the machine faced GS wheels).
Well if they're selling the insurance for only $500 with no red, then the issue probably isn't as bad as it seems because these monster companies aren't in the business of selling unprofitable insurance...

I got a significant discount because I bought the warranty when I bought the car. it's normally more expensive.

I'm not a fan of how GM seems to be dealing (or more accurately, not dealing) with all the issues with this car.

I'm at almost 5k on my 19 GS, and so far I haven't had any problems, but if I do run into any of the problems associated with the C7, I'm not looking forward to testing GM customer service and getting the issue resolved to my satisfaction. I knew about all these problems before I bought the car and I only still went ahead with the purchase because it's been a lifelong dream and I'm absolutely in love with the look of the car (whoever designed it - great job man). You'd think GM would really want to impress and keep customers like us who spend so much on cars - well handling an issue like this wheel fiasco isn't gonna do that.
Same here. 2019 Grand Sport and no rim issues. I ride on some very new paved roads and the car is smooth as glass. That's where I pay attention to feel if there's any vibrations etc. Nada. I think they may have fixed it for 2019 because I haven't heard any issues with them.

i got yours, tried to reply but you can't recieve pms.

the bottom line is that i bought it from Mike Furman at Criswell when i bought the car. I don't know if they sell it separately but you can call Criswell and ask. Keep in mind that I have bought a few cars from Mike so I can't guarantee that you'll get the same discount and as I bought the plan 2 years ago, the pricing might have changed.
Good luck.

Default Bent or Cracked wheel issue with C7 GS

Judging from the number of responses regarding bent and cracked wheels both in General Discussion and Ask Tadge forums it may be worth reporting this to the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration. I did, it only takes a few minutes and may lead to this problem getting the attention that it warrants.

Just had my drivers rear ZO6 rim replaced under the wheel and tire warranty I purchased when I bought my Z. My rim cracked exactly where yours did and then started to extend into the “drum” part.

Paid $1000 for the warranty, just shy of three years of ownership and my claims are north of $3k. Three tires and two rims. Big zero out of pocket.

I admit Illinois roads SUCK but we had not hit any potholes. No physical damage to the tire no rim damage outside of the crack. We filled it up and began the journey of 2 hours home. I've had my 2017 Grand Sport for 18 months and live in San Jose, CA. I have a 40 mile commute each way and drive the car a few days a week and have 18.7k miles on the car. The right rear cracked about 4 months ago. The left rear cracked yesterday since I had the low pressure warning this morning. I purchased a new rim after the first one cracked without even thinking about asking if it was under warranty. Did your dealership provide you with a new rim under warranty?

Not to me personally, but there has been an unusually high rate of incidences of this reported on the forum. I have read the forum posts every day for about three years now and the cracked rim issues were not prevalent at all before the release of the Grand Sport compared with other models. I'm sure most owners of the GS have had no issues, but there is indeed an above average rate of reports in regard to cracked rims the Grand Sport. Even more that one wheel at a time! Maybe the updated mag ride software update will mitigate the occurrence.

Almost 4000 miles on my 2019 GS and no problems so far. Drove it home from MacMulkin to Wisconsin.

I have a customer with a 19 GS that has 6000 miles and has been through 4 cracked wheels. All on the inside barrel and 3 in the rear. He is getting rid of them and going with a set of Forgelines. Dealer won't do anything to help him on it at all.

I'm curious if it's inherent to one style of wheel over another. I have the machine faced wheels on my '17 and I haven't seen any pics of any cracked machine faced wheels yet.

Which wheels are they?
