Default 2019 Grand Sport tire pressure?

The car was delivered to me with 25 psi tire pressure. The door jamb sticker says 30 psi. The ride is quite harsh at 30 psi in Sport Mode which I like. What tire pressure seems to be best in Sport Mode on streets?

Thanks for your input,

30 psi stay with mfg recommended pressure. This is widely used with most tires plus the tire itself may also have recommended pressure listed on it as well

I run the suggested 30 and in TOUR mode most of the time. I think the ride is fine especially after the magnetic ride recalibration.

My 2019 GS was delivered with 35 PSI in the tires. I dropped the pressure before leaving the lot to 30 PSI. However, I have been running my at 28 PSI cold since that first drive home, have 6k miles on the tires and very even wear on all tires.

running at 25 you run a bigger risk of damaging these rims that get damaged at 30 as it is.

GM recommends 30psi. I've tried everything from 25 to 37 cold psi. 25 psi is way too low. 30 psi gives a good ride, but you will notice some rounding of the front tires usually between 10,000 and 15,000 miles. I actually run 37 psi in all my personal corvettes. The ride is not much rougher at all, you get better gas mileage, safer if you decide to do a high speed run, and you can go a good 40,000 miles on the tires with normal driving. I'm writing all of this from personal experience.

I would think increasing air pressure to higher levels would increase risk of cracked/bent wheels especially when driving in sport and track modes. More pressure = harder tires = increased impact to wheel when hitting pot holes etc.

You would think that, but it is actually the opposite.

Don't know how it could be the opposite. Higher the air pressure harder the tire, harder the ride and more impact on wheels traveling over bumps, and potholes. Granted, extremely under inflated tires would increase risk of cracked/bent wheels as well.

I believe lower pressures prevents the tire sidewalls from giving more cushion or rubber to compress, thus not cushioning the WHEEL from impacting the road or pothole edge. Higher air pressures put more rubber between wheels & road.JMHO Also another poster said high pressures are safer on high speed runs which is wrong as overinflated tires heat up quickly & are MORE likely to fail at high speeds.

Ask a qualified person like someone who designs rims. I've read both statements here but from just forum dwellers. I'm very curious what the truth is. And there are probably a few different ways they can get damaged. Maybe some from low pressure and some from high.

Neither too high air pressure nor too low is good, thus best to leave it to GM and the tire manufacturer's recommendations of 30PSI. At least that's what I do.

Yep, and I love the way my GS rides-handles in sport mode at 30PSI.

30 psi cold has been the recommended tire pressure for many years.

Well, according to GM there is no issue with rims bending/cracking, so, so much for that qualified person crap.

Sports car tires lasting 40,000 miles is a bit optimistic, and many drivers prefer softer compounds.
