The wife and I will finish up a 2000 mile road trip tomorrow that took us down US 101, down CA 1, over to Vegas, back to San Francisco and across the Golden Gate Bridge, and finally back up the 101 to Seattle. The car had been great. Very comfortable on long drives, quick when I give it the beans, and a blast in the curves driving through redwoods. GT for sure, sports car for sure, and if you wane to turn it into a muscle car it will do that too. Definitely one of the most versatile cars out there, I think.

I've always wondered if the Corvette is a Sports Car, a Muscle Car or a Grand Tourer. I had a conversation with some of my friends yesterday about it, but I didn't get a clear answer, I also got the same answer with the Dodge Viper. ( I know, Unrelated) In my opinion, I kind of think that it's a Grand Tourer because it's a High Performance Luxury Vehicle with two seats, but there might be people who might think otherwise. Give me your opinion.

The Corvette is a grand touring car. It is simply too heavy to be a sports car. My sports car is over 1,000lbs lighter than my c7. I am stealing this from motor trend, but I agree with it 100%. "A grand touring car is a car you want to drive across the country. A sports car by definition is compromised, but it is so much fun to drive that you end up driving across the country." Just to be clear, I consider the 458 I drove 2,000 miles through Europe to he a grand touring car too.
The last thing a c7 Corvette is, is a muscle car. There is too much of an emphasis on handling for it to be a muscle car. I don't think there are any modern muscle cars anymore. Chrager / Callenger hellcats seem to be the closest. They still emphasize handling, braking etc but those seem very secondary to their 900 horsepower. Garbage chasis + big engine = muscle car, right? I have owned a bunch of muscle cars and it is tough to call ln the 6th gen Camaro or new mustang a muscle car. They seem like they are trying to be an alternative to BMW these days. I am not convinced America made a muscle car after 1975. It took us 20ish years to make another Corvette with 300 horsepower. Then we had "modern muscle cars" for like 20 years, but once the Camaro lost its solid rear axle and started aiming at BMW, I think they lost their muscle car tag.
I like to think I own one of each right now.
1 of 220 Nobles in the U.S. - sports car.
1 of 198 ls1 hardtop ws6 - (modern) muscle car.
1 of many Corvette z51's, but this one is mine. GT car

What's a muscle car? A car with lotsa hp that will accelerate quickly in straight line? Corvette
What's a sports car? A car that handles and brakes well? Doesn't necessarily have to be fast, think Bug Eyed Sprite, but can be, think Lotus. Corvette
What's a grand tourer? A car that will hold two plus luggage that is relatively fast, comfortable with decent handling and brakes. Corvette

That all black C7 is a muscle car-straight line fast, a sports car-handles like it is on rails, and it is flat out gorgeous. One of the nicest C7s I have ever seen. The all black with chrome contrasts and a dab of red is tough to beat and even tougher to keep clean.

Impossible to keep clean. I have the same color/wheel but mine is the coupe. It's badass at it's core but always dirty.

Yes: A sedan /sɪˈdæn/ — also saloon — is a passenger car in a three-box configuration with separate compartments for engine, passenger and cargo.[1]
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sedan_(automobile)
A coupe is a type of sedan that normally (but not always) has two doors.

A convertible is often considered yo be a roadster
From Wikipedia:
roadster (also spider, spyder) is an open two-seat car with emphasis on sporting appearance or character.[1][2] Initially an American term for a two-seat car with no weather protection, usage has spread internationally and has evolved to include two-seat convertibles.

sedans = 2 doors They didn't call a 55 Chevy 2 door sedan a coupe. In the 20s, 30s, 40s and early 50s auto makers made both 2 door coupes and 2 door sedans. For instance a 2 door 40 Ford Coupe looks a lot different than a 2 door 40 Ford Sedan. The sedans had longer roof lines and more interior room.
sedans = 4 doors
coupes = 2 doors

Thanks but when at home with several cars to choose from it is easy to keep clean with a detailer and Microsoft towel. When doing my 8000 mile cross country trip earlier, it was a bit more of a challenge.

Not sure on the correct classification, however I will never call my Corvette a "Grand Tourer".
