And whatever the loss is I will make up for it in the enjoyment I'll get while driving my Corvette. As the old saying goes, "You wanna play, you gotta pay." Life's too short, buy that Corvette, and enjoy the ride.

Not sure where you are from - but in about 2 min, I found a 2018, GS, CONVERTIBLE, 2LT package (meaning more options) for $61k:
https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-...ckType=listing
Some may tend to disagree, but I would bet that a 2018 GS Convertible with a 2LT package, will sell for more in 3 years than the car you posted...at least they would be really close, but you would have a more optioned car AND you would have a convertible....again not sure if you're a vert guy or not...or if you care about bells and whistles... Just sharing so you have all sides to compare...

I just purchased a new Stingray 2LT coupe, stock # 8229, from MacMulkin last Monday, 12/24 at 16% off MSRP. I had the option of financing at an outrageous 7.29% through GM Financial or paying an additional $1,000. The financing can be paid off after the 3rd payment. Contrary to other posts that claim MacMulkin does not have a DOC fee, they do but it is included in the advertised price and not added as a tacked on after the fact charge. I suspect that Kerbeck does it the same way now. I checked with many dealers for pricing but none could beat or match my price from Tommy Jr. Three area dealers said they would lose considerable money if they sold the same car at MacMulkin's price. I guess a lot depends on the dealers floor plan money and advertising consortiums that they have to pay into. My local dealer gave me thumbs-up on my deal and asked that I continue to use their service department. I would have much preferred to buy locally but 2-3 grand is a big deal to me. Now I'm waiting for the Intercity truck.

Thanks. I’m curious. Was there any negotiation at MacMulkin? I’m in CT. So Kerbeck and MacMulkin are roughly same distance.
Im also not much for bells and whistles. MacMulkin has a 2LT base stingray as well that I’m looking at.
Thanks for everyones replies and insights.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I’m buying within the next 3-4 weeks so I’ll shop around and update back.
However it goes (used/new) I’m sure the car will be a blast

Lease
You might want to consider a lease if you are keeping it until the C8 comes out. You can negotiate the sale price but the residual value is pretty much set. I just leased a 2019 2lt Grand Sport for 3 years and 30,000 miles.

That’s true I hadn’t given leasing much though. Did you find the monthly payment savings was worth it compared to financing.
Also did they ask for a ton on money down

My opinion on this if depreciation is a big factor, which it is for me:
If one wants a 1LT car (it looks like that's what the OP is looking for), then you are better off buying brand new at an exceptional price similar to what a few forum dealers are selling theirs for. For used 2017-2018 1LT C7 Grand Sports I've seen advertised, most of the lower priced ones are just not that attractive compared to the small additional amount you can by a new 2019 for and I'm more unlikely to be able to negotiate a huge discount on the lower priced used cars. Buying new in 1LT trim does not lose you much more money (when bought for a great price) when you refer to the net depreciation.
If one wants a very loaded car then you are better off buying used as there is a lot more new car depreciation from getting only some of the money back from what the options cost. However, the issue is finding nearly exactly what you want, when you want it, especially if you want a manual transmission.

Iseecars has ranked the C7 as one of the top 3 in lowest depreciation over 5 years for a sports car. More can be found here.

here is their tabular rankings.

I lost my rear end on a Audi S5, but made a good amount on my CTS-V. I expect the Grand Sport to hold it's value as well.

I put $2,000 down. The payment is less. You do not pay sales tax up front, it is paid each month. You can walk at three years if your car has transmission, differential, or other known problems. Finally you can purchase at the end of the lease and the residual will be less than the price that you will find 3 year used cars selling for. Some people can write off the lease through their business.
You could not lease a Vette in 2014. You can today because there are more cars than buyers.

For $63K, I was in a brand new 2017 Stingray convertible with 3LT Trim package AND MSRC, with FE2 appearance package to boot!
..The 2LT Trim level has features and benefits the 1LT doesn't have. I wouldn't buy less than a 2LT.

Hey all,
new to the forum. I'm looking into getting a new Stingray GS. This will be my first sports car. Dad owned a 85 vette so now its my turn. My question is on resale. I plan on keeping the car for 3-3/12 years and then going for a c8 once its been in production a year or two. Car will mainly be used for a short commute, weekend drives etc. Point is it won't be a garage queen.
So in short- if i spend 60K (at someplace like kerbecks or macmulkin) will i take a bath in 3 years? Im cross shopping with a used Porsche Cayman S from 14-16 and their resale seems very strong...however the vette is way more car for the money and If i can go new I would prefer it.
Any thoughts or insights would be appreciated.

Are you completely opposed to buying used cause other than that, anytime you buy new your going to take a bath in the short term... Just a thought - most used C7's have less than 5000 miles on them - so they are barely even touched...but if you want new - then unfortunately the car buying game is not setup for you to come out on top.
Good luck - you will love the C7!

Just buy the car you want now and don't worry about resale somewhere, sometime... out there. Do your "investing" elsewhere.

Exactly. Invest wisely and use the dividends to pay for your new corvettes. Too many people treat these purchases like the stock market. Makes no sense, or cents.
