Free oil changes

I had my 18 GS in the dealership today for its second free oil change. I was told specifically, that I have one free oil change left (total 3). If I recall correctly it was 2 for non dry sump cars.

Dry or wet sump car?
I believe you should get 3, the 500 mile plus two being a wet sump car.
My 2018 Grand sport came with 3, the 500 mile, and two regular changes. Said it in manual, dealer told me and got a letter from Chevy saying it did.

Thanks, I was at the dealership when I posted. I checked the window sticker and it does say only 2! I will do them myself going forward.

Yes. Two, is now the number. Consult your window sticker for verification, or, see your local Chevrolet dealer service advisor.

Be sure to ask the dealer what type of oil they use, as GM Canada will only authorize/pay for semi-synthetic oil. When I took my 2016 Z51 in for the 800 km oil change, I got into this with the dealer and GM Customer Care. I wound up paying the full freight for Mobil 1, and did not use the remaining "free" oil changes. I should note this may no longer be an issue though, as the oil filter cap now says Mobil 1 on it.....because of this issue!!
Both changes so far have used 0W40 ESP Dexos2 (from one litre bottles, I watched the tech from the roll-up door break the bottle seals and could read the labels) and the work order showed the proper oil for the 2019 vehicles. But the dealer I go to is one of the higher volume Vette dealers in Canada, just north of Toronto, so it is likely they're making sure their reputation is kept clean, not playing games with bulk oil.

i bought my 2016 CPO Z51 in Feb'18 and it came with one remaining free oil change with an expiry date of May'18. I didn't have the need to change the oil until Dec'18 and when I took it to the dealer a couple of weeks ago, it was done free of cost even though myChevrolet.com claimed that the free oil change had expired in May'18.

Might be a model-year distinction like U.S. models. My 2015 wet sump got four changes in two years (one more for dry sump) and my 2017 wet sump got three (2+1).

3 free oil changes total came with my '17 GS. The 1st @500 miles and the next 2 had to be used within 2 years. I watched the tech while he did the 500 mile change to be sure nothing fancy was required, and since I have a lift, I did the 2 and future changes myself. As @devnull commented above, that lift is the best tool in my garage. @SoFloVette Speaking of lifts... I have a 9 1/2' ceiling and can stack one Vette on top of another.

I won't use jack stands on both ends of the car but made stanchions (~$10) I use under the rear wheels (you can buy plastic 8 inch high ones from Race Ramps) and jack the rear first using jack pads at the GM recommended locations on the frame. Then I use jack stands on the spots designated on the front cross member. I use two jacks but it can be done jacking one wheel at a time.
A lift is fine but then you also need a long funnel and container. I use an inexpensive plastic 15 quart low profile oil drain pan that also has caps. I just cap the openings and bring the oil and filter to a state operated recycle center 5 miles from the house. But folks selling oil will usually take the spent oil as well.

A wet sump also does not have a hose going to the engine air intake tube. The last sentence in the GM bulletin saying the oil must be changed at 500 miles (that came out 13 months after I got my September 2013 C7, Z51) states: “The oil foam does no harm to the engine.” Therefore wet sumps need not change oil at 500 miles and dry sumps are only changing to avoid the possibility of oil dripping from the air filter, as the GM bulletin states, “If the engine is operated at sustained high speed with the first oil fill.”
Side Bar:
There are a number of posts with the dripping oil, but after following the issue in posts for 5 years it appears the much bigger risk is dealers overfilling dry sumps! For those who get Museum Delivery or driving a new car home from a forum dealer etc., and fretting about finding to a dealer who will change oil while on the road you should be more concerned about overfilling! I suggest one option is reading the Owner’s Manual (download the PDF version) and check the oil level before you leave the dealer. If overfilled, make the dealer correct before you continue!
This is the CAUTION statement on the Owner's Manual:
"Do not add too much oil. Oil levels above or below the acceptable operating range shown on the dipstick are harmful to the engine. If you find that you have an oil level above the operating range, i.e., the engine has so much oil that the oil level gets above the cross-hatched area that shows the proper operating range, the engine could be damaged. You should drain out the excess oil or limit driving of the vehicle and seek a service professional to remove the excess amount of oil.
