Jack alternatives...Harbor Freight no longer has the 68050
I know, I know. Another floor jack thread. Bear with me please.
So the Pittsburgh 68050 low profile, long reach floor jack is no longer available at Harbor Freight. On the bright side, Walmart has it ...for $440!!! They do have the 61253, 3 ton low profile jack for $98, but it's not long reach and doesn't offer the foot pedal to pump it up. Harbor Freight does have a Daytona 3 ton low profile, long reach jack with the foot pedal for $170 (looks like it's on sale on the website, down from $190). It's doesn't have as low a profile as the Pittsburgh jack, but it's only about 1/2" higher.
Anyone have a line on another source for the Pittsburgh jack, or an alternative that's cheaper than the Daytona?

I far prefer my 15 inch arm jack over the 95 pound “long reach jack” 21 inch arm jack with the “foot pedal.” It lifts my Grand Sport with full length side skirts as far as needed just fine from the side rails on jack pads. You can’t reach the proper jacking points on the cross members from the front or rear anyway.
I have 4 Harbor Freight Jacks, the only one I would not buy is the “short arm” jack. It only has a 10 inch long lift arm and the lift height is limited plus it must move in 2.6 inches at max lift to keep the jack saddle centered under the jack pad and NOT slip off.
The 15 inch arm jack only has to move into the car 1.8 inches for the same lift height. The “long arm jack” still has to move in 1.2 inches.
IMO purchasing two ~15 inch long arm jacks is a better investment. Then you can lift from both sides for oil changes etc. I do that progressively from both side s o it lifts evenly. About 3 steps per side. Note the arm length refereced is from the center of the jack saddle to where it pivots.

I found a coupon online and was able to get this for $130. This fits easily under my GS with stage 2 skirts with the Extended Jack Pucks Reverse Logic sells of this forum. This jack is built like a tank. Strongly recommend if you purchase a Daytona jack you buy the hydralic fluid they sell at Harbor Freight. My jack was empty when I took delivery. This jack is more than what you need for your Vette. I will also use it for wifes SUV. The Daytona jack you referred to is their top of the line 4 ton model. That jack is overkill for a DIYer. That jack is real heavy duty and you need it if you are a professional and use it everyday. That jack comes with a 1 year guarantee. My jack came with a 30 day guarentee. I purchased additional jack insurance from Harbor Freight. It gave me 1 year of protection for $20. This jack will last years. Even if it should break you can rebuild it. Harbor Freight sells the replacement parts for it. Usually the first thing to go are an O rings.

Very please I got the 68050 prior to it bring discontinued. Great jack and the foot pedal is a must for limited space. I've used mine quite a bit on different vehicles. Won't pay $440 for it though.
One doesn't need a monster jack for most C7 jobs. I bought a couple of these light-weight, aluminum cheapos from NAPA well over a decade ago to use with my wife's race car at Bonneville. I didn't want to mess with my "good" jacks. These work perfectly well lifting at the jacking pucks and I use them for everything and anything within their 1.5 Ton capacity.
Btw, when paired with a set of the long, two-piece RaceRamps these will lift the entire car level with the top of the ramps.
Oh yeah, complete over kill for a 3500lb car BUT it has great reach plus its good for lifting my truck when need be as well. I have an older Craftsman race jack too but it unfortunately does not clear the skirts on the Z.

Me, too! Great jack. Bought mine in 2013 for about $85 on sale, which is a great buy for that money. I see the 3-ton mentioned by MMR and Madski as an equivalent with more capacity, which you wouldn't need for a C7 or most other applications. It also is orange, which must be faster than the silver, and has side skirts!
Ended up buying two of the low profile Pittsburgh 3 ton floor jacks (64264). Figure I'll put those on the front jack pads and my old Craftsman on the rear jack point, get the front up, put in the the stands, then up in the back with stands. Really like that Dayton 3 ton with the pedal but not at nearly double the price.
Don't forget Northern Tool, they have a good selction. I like the long reach jacks and bought one from them even though they tend to be a little more expensive than HF (better reviews). You really need the long reach for most uses with a low vehicle like the C7. Generally you get 2Ton with the long reach versis the shorter one that are 3 ton. They also usually have the lowest resting hight which again is importent with our cars.

I love my heavy duty professional Daytona jacks...

Edit: I guess with the Pittsburgh one being gone, the Daytona ones are hard to find anymore. None of the stores in my area have them, but I got one from the Hamilton about an hour away.

It's the same, here's a tag shot of the one I bought, you can see the same numbers on the left. Problem is finding them in stock. I learned a long time ago just because they advertise it doesn't mean you can find it. They will do a preorder at the sale price, essentially a rain check, so that's an option...
Having my short arm jack slip off jack pad thought these pics might help on buying and using them!
Note: Pic from this thread of jack on black Vette may have only been to take pic and NOT how it would be used. But good example of what not to do!
Note a "short arm jack" has to move in much more than a "long arm jack" for a given lift. I bought the long arm HF jack after my short one slipped off the jack pad lifting to install my wood stanchions. However although it did not have to "move in" as much, it does have to move some. It is so heavy (95 lbs) I found it wasn't and the depth of the jack saddle was very shallow (probably to get a "low min height number!") Was an issue on my tiled floor and my concrete driveway. I welded on a steel lip, "just-in-case." Just check as you lift!
FWIW, IMO two ~15 inch long arm medicum lift jacks are a better investment than a very long arm jack.)
