So, the Z06 may leave me "behind quickly", but I'll leave most others on the street behind. Doesn't bother me in the least. Not everyone needs or can or should handle 650 hp.

It's what makes the world go round, don't ya think? Now let's all join hands and sing Kumbaya.
Thsi is exactly what I mean. I’m glad you are happy with your GS. However you are also stating how it’s faster than ALL these other cars. My point is just because a car is faster doesn’t mean it’s an ego thing. There is always someone faster.

Oh come on! cant you at least call us jealous "Stingray" owners? sure we may have no HP but we do have a name!

LOL. I consider them all stingrays so that doesn’t work😄. They are ALL great cars. Not knocking any of them. I’m just not understanding those that say the LT1 is great and fast. Yet the Z06 and ZR1 are for bragging rights. I don’t brag to anyone about my Z. Now if I had a Mclaren 720s I’d brag 😄

OK, maybe I misunderstood your original post then? It seemed to me you were saying that people with lower hp cars are "jealous" of those with higher powered cars. The fact that you threw that term in there, told me you had a little chip on your shoulder maybe?

I don't even care if my car is faster than most. I say let the others get the tickets.
In fact, before I got my GS, I was torn between that and a Mazda MX-5. That's how little I care about beating people off the line. Lol!! There always more to a car than HP.

Edit: After re-reading your original post, I'm still not sure I understand what you're getting at?

Sorry for the misunderstanding. No idea why some come across that the LT1 is perfect. Some may be jealous and some may be perfectly content. What I don’t get is someone telling someone else that they have too much power and it’s just for bragging rights or ego.

I actually think the base stingray is probably the best daily driver with the best ride quality. I think the GS is the best balanced car for the track for the AVG driver. The ZR1 IS the top dog for the track for the highly experienced driver. I love my Z06 and think it’s the best bang for the buck for a street car and some track time. Hopefully this makes more sense.

Jealousy? Over the years I have read many many post from members who bought a Z06 only to sell it soon afterwards because in their words, “just too much power”.

Yup, that clarified it. Thanks! Well, it just seems there's just always "those" people. Ya know? They're just not happy with their lives so they don't want anyone else to be happy.

I, personally, would never own either of the Z cars. Just way too much for what I need. I already get frustrated with how quickly I get up to speed, knowing how much more is on the table. I can't even imagine having more power.

So, question... If you think the Ray is the best daily, why did you go with with the Z06? Do you track?

Yes I’ve read a couple of those as well. Nothing wrong with knowing their limitations.

Even Randy Pobst thought the Z had too much power for its' own good.

I wouldn't mind the additional power, just for the sake of having it. But, with that said, when I bought my GS and had the option of shelling out another ten grand for a Z06, it just seemed to be an impractical purchase since I knew living in the middle of the city that 95% of my driving would be stop and go.

Having my GS now for nearly 11 months, I have yet had the opportunity to see what it can do.

Hopefully, that will change soon.

Agreed. This was on the track at its limits. That’s why I agree that the GS is the better balanced car for the track. However the torque of the Z06 can be felt everywhere on the street. Making it much faster and more fun. One doesn’t need to floor it to feel that.

If LT4 came in the narrow body, I would own one. 650 HP would be fun, just not a fan of the porky body. Guess I could buy a Z06 and do a narrow body conversion.

Agreed that should be an option. I believe they could sell quite a few.

OH I can imagine. Though I have a friend with a Z who complains about traction (or lack thereof) all the time.

Yes temperatures and the right foot have a lot to do with it. Can’t just mash the gas like many other cars.

I suspect that GM never made it an option due to traction limitations. With that said, the measly LT1 has no problem breaking my stock Z51 rears loose so 650 might actually be too much for the overall narrow body system - LOL

Ya, living in an area that's wet 85% of the time doesn't help either!

I've only had my z06 for 6 months but do not feel that there is too much power, in fact it produces that oh my smile every time I drive it.
